Did you ever dye your hair and hate the colour?

I played around with dye at 16, I died my hair black, then I dyed it for awhile in my late 30's now that I am in my 50's I dye again only this time to hide the gray. I just dyed mine red and I don't really like it but I will keep it until the gray shows through. How old were you when you first started dyeing your hair, and did you ever dye it a colour you hated, did you wait or change it right away?

I only started dying my hair maybe ten years ago..out of the blue I decided I was going to be a blonde..my hair is naturally dark brown...Well, yup sure enough did my hair blonde..what a disaster...I guess I just don't have the right skin color for light or blonde hair..I looked so washed out, like a corpse...within a week I dyed back to a dark shade. I only dye my hair now once or twice a year...thankfully I still don't have too many grey hairs coming in

I dyed my hair once when I was 16. I dyed it black and I liked but my hair is a dark brown with natural red and blonde highlights and I dont want to cover that up.

I was not allowed to dye my hair when I lived at home, so when I moved out I desided to dye it black. It turn GRAY! Because my hair was a blond color. I cried and begged my then boyfriend to please go and buy my another box and redid it. I now keep my hair dyed red and it looks great on me. There was another time when I dyed my hair and it was to be a mango/reddish color and it turned a bright orange! Not good at all when you are working as a cashier. I know this other lady that dyed her hair and it turned lavender! Work was not happy and it matched to our work shirts. Thanks for the question.

I have dyed my hair before and have it come out wrong like the time I tried having plumaria colored hair with light colored purple streaks and I ended up having gray streaks. Or the time I tried going from blond to brown and I had Gray that time too.

Oh in my teens my hair was all sorts of wonderful shades as I was a bit of a punk, pink, blue, purple, green, but these days need to cover the grey. I have on a few occasions used too dark a shade which I have just had to wait til it faded and grew out a bit but I have just recently had my haircut quite short and had lowlights put through so hopefully won't keep having to dye so much as grey will blend in, well thats the theory anyway. Early days so we will see. Ellie :D

I can't remember what age I was maybe in my 20's but yes I dye my hair also and I tried blonde and didn't like it at all but waited for awhile and I went back to my color medium brown and I had trouble with it and I called the number on the back of the box and they told me to go ahead and do it again and I said you sure and they said yes so I did and it worked for me, but it might not work for everyone. call the number on back of box and ask them what to do they will advise you.

Lets see I started dying my hair at 13. I had dark hair and wanted lighter so I did proxide and lemon juice every weekend on our boat till my hair was nice and light. During high school I tried a lot of different colors. The worst: Well I wanted to go red so I went out bought the stuff and went to a friends house. She did my hair. We thought it was done so I rinsed and dryed. It was HORRIABLE! It was bozo the clown red. TERRIABLE HORRIABLE OH MY WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?!?!? We went back to the store (with a hat on my head) and bought like 4 more colors. I dyed my hair 2 more times that night, skipped school the next day and dyed it 1 more time. It came out to a dark auborn color that I wasn't too fond of but I thought if I dyed my hair again it would probably fall out. So I waited about a week and stripped it at that point I went back to my regular color. Now I dye my hair on a regular basis and don't try new colors.

I have never dyed my hair as of yet but we dyed my husbands one time when we first met. My husband has had salt and pepper hair for years and I love it. He wanted me to dye it to his original color right after I met him and I didn't like it at all. It was almost a rusty brown. We have never dyed it since then. He is almost solid white now with his hair and I really like it on him. He was in his 30's when we met and was salt and pepper but I am not sure how long he had been that way before we met. My husband let his hair grow again to its natural state. I wanted to dye it back right away to salt and pepper though.

I'm not a huge fan of dyeing hair. But I recall one incident when the hairstylist mistakenly used a different shade. My hair looks like a carrot. I went home real upset and didn't step out of the house for a week. The hairstylist apologized profusely and gave me some coupons to compensate for her negligence. =)

When I was in highschool I wanted blonde hair and back then they didn't have many good dyes like they have now so it always turned out orange! I sometimes just used peroxide and sat in the sun LOL. One time I dyed my hair red and it looked really neat, but unfortunately I broke out in hives really bad, so bad, I had to see my doctor who told me it was a lovely colour on me, but too bad, I could never use it again :( I tried black once and it made me look really hard, so never went back to that. I use champaign blonde now, it foes with my colour now which is white and grey lol.

Years ago, my friend and I decided it would be fun to dye my hair. Yeah right. I picked out a golden blonde color, but to my absolute horror it turned red, not just any red either, orange, really really orange. In a panic we called the 1-800 number on the box and they were lifesavers, or at least hair savers. LOL They told me to put V05 hot oil treatment on my hair, cover it with plastic and let sit for half an hour then wash. It took if not all, most of the color out. Thankfully. I few weeks later, I dyed it back to my original color.

I think I was 14 or 15 the first time I dyed my hair. I just dyed it a lighter version of my natural color. I loved it. I have dyed my hair blue-black, strawberry blonde, red, all kinds of blonde, different shades of brown... I liked almost all of them. My parents hated the red and the black. They like my hair blonde. Everytime I try and go brunette it never lasts, it just washes out. It stays brown a couple of weeks and then suddenly my hair is blonde again. The blue-black was kind of cool but every hard to keep up with. Blonde roots are not pretty with black hair! And like the brown, it faded quickly. The only times I really didn't like my hair color was when I would try and get the orangey-gold tones out of my hair so I would use an ash color and it always made my hair a greenish color. Yuck.

I have been dyeing my hair since I have been 14. The worse color I ever did was it was suppose to be a strawberry blonde but it turned out to be more like a fireball orange. My hair has been almost every color. Now I color it this reddest red and pretty much stick wit that. It's that deep dark red. I love it. I did have black hair too, even blue black. I was always dyeing it a different color. And it I end up hating it I wait a few days and dye it again.

My sister bought this Loreal Pulse stuff and wanted to dye my hair. The bottle said that it was temporary and would wash out in 10-20 shampoos, but that was far from the case. For some reason, it stained my hair this TERRIBLE firetruck red. It was hideous and uneven. It was gross. I will never ever put that stuff into my hair and I always tell my friends and family to steer clear of it too, because it's terrible! I looked like I dunked my head into a bucket of hawaiian punch. It was gross. After about three months of waiting for the nasty stuff to rinse out and it not, I decided to go to a hair salon and get it fixed. I explained to the lady that I was on a budget and she worked with me, and charged me only for the supplies (because it was cheaper than charging for the hours.) Needless to say, I learned my lesson!

The first time my hair was dyed it was dyed strawberry blonde at the age of 7. My mom thought it cute to dye all our hair red. My step-dad had natural strawberry blonde hair. Well, it turned a little greenish probably from the clorine I don't really know why it did. But then I didn't dye my hair again till I was 16 and I dyed it blonde didn't like it at all. From then it was dyed in various colors of red and I had it frosted once also I dye my hair atleast once a year. and it is usually a red. I love red hair and have been told it suits me but that all depends on the color of red. Once my mom dyed it copper.. I swear it turned out orange and I mean bright orange. I hated it I screeched that she ruined my hair and cried for awhile. Don't get me wrong nothing wrong with orange hair I have two brothers who have oranrge hair. I just didn't want it on my head. Then 2 years ago I dyed my hair burgundy/black cherry cause on the box it looked red. Well, I did it and my hair turned out the most amazing color of purple everyone thought it cute. the kids loved it especially. Bad thing I had to move my picture date so I wouldn't be photographed with hair the color of a plum. It took 6 weeks for the color of purple to fade and that was when I ran out of the shampoo and conditioner I bought to go with it Garnier(I think that is how it was spelled) was the hair color brand also. So now days I just venture into the auburn between medium, light and dark.

I was dying my hair red/auburn for a while to take care of the gray, and it was so funny. I wish I had a picture, because the first time I did it, the biggest gray streak actually turned magenta. I washed it with some strong shampoo. You will not have long to wait for the gray to show. Red is the hardest dye color to maintain. It seems to wash out or grow out very fast. I did the brown/black thing in my teens, and lightened my hair some. Right now, I am saving time and money by going natural.

My hair was dark brown with red highlights. When I was in my late 30's I dyed it red only it was more purple and I did not like it. But I waited as could not afford to dye it again right away. My hair is going grey now in some places and I dye my hair about 4 times a year the brunette color I grew up with. I am in my late 50's as well.

I've dyed my hair off and on since I was about 14. Red works best for me. One time I decided to try blond and it looked so horrible I never made that mistake again!

oh goodness where do i start. I remember when i was about 12 i got some blonde streaks, then i dyed my hair black, then blonde, then bleech blonde with blue and pink and green and red streeks, then back to messy black with some blonde peices here and there, then blonde, then blonde with black underneith and my last one was when i dyed my hair blue ontop, but that slowly turned green then gray. the worse one would probably be the greenish gray colour I had

Hi winterose.. Five years ago, me and my friends decided to dyed our hair but not with professionals since it was our first time and we just wanted something not so obvious. Our hair were so black that after we applied the dyed, no change of color at all. After that incident I never attempted to change my hair color until recently. I went to a grocery shop and noticed a color dye L'Oreal was on sale. I decided to give another try. Maybe it would work. Instead of following the instructions which was to leave the dye for a couple of minutes to an hour, I leave it with my hair overnight. Good riddance, it did work. I like my hair now better. Brunette is the hair color I wanted to have eversince..
