Have you ever made a mistake that keeps coming back to haunt you?

since 2005 my life has been pretty crappy,
I left my regular job because I got very sick. That was in february of that year.
In november or so I tried a job and worked for 3 days, just as I started my sister landed in the hospital with cancer.
I was too sick too work so I had to quit, with all that was going on I forgot to notify unemployment insurance of the three days,
my sister died in January of 2006 and then last year the unemployment insurance people came after me but not for the money which was less than 300 but for 1,000 claiming I didn't serve all money I received after that time,
It was scary I was already on welfare by then,
I appealed and won, I only had to pay back the original 297.00
It was my mistake and I payed for it.
Now I am on disability still not able to work and today in the mail I get an assessment, they say I owe 75.00 from 2005 to the income tax over this same three days that I worked. Heck I filled out the income tax as it was supposed to be filled out,
I have no money and this mistake keeps coming back to haunt me over and over again,
has any mistake you made ever come back to haunt you?

I have one.
It's 9 years ago. When I was young and still in school,
I just thought my body was O.K.
So I just played a joke on my body.
About my health, so now my health is still in danger.
I don't know how to deal with it.
Maybe for the whole life

Hi. I sent you an email and explianed to you that it has happened to my family also. It seems no matter what we do in life, be it right or worng, whether it is intentional or unintentional, it always comes back to haunt us until the end.
It is almost like we have to be perfect creatures in this corrupted world we live in. We are not allowed to make a single honest mistake or we will pay for it for the rest of our lives.
It is sad but true.

Oh Winterose that is so sad it was a genuine oversight due to the emotional struggle you were going through at the time, unfortunately the powers that be do not take into account that we as humans have feelings and emotions. I am sorry to here you lost your sister, I'm coping at the moment with my father seriously ill with the big C so can relate as it not looking good. I am really pleased you won your appeal. I would question the 75.00 also as each week because my wages are varible I get letters saying I owe his or that and then the next week I don't. I pray you get this resolved quickly so you can shut the door on this 3 day err. Myself like any person has made mistakes, my ex-husband a prime example and he still haunts because he is my daughters father but can't think of any others at this moment in time. I hope this is just a dip for you on the rollercoaster of life and that you'll soon be back up there. Ellie :D

My biggest mistake was getting too close to someone that wasn't my partner. It was within the first year of us dating and I was working at a Haunted House. I cuddled with the person and it was the dumbest thing I had ever done. And I'm known for doing dumb stuff all the time.
Every year I'm thankful that my partner forgave me and every year I'm reminded how close I was to losing the best thing in my life.

Oh Sweets
That is aweful
That is the gov for you though
You can bet if
they owed you that amount
they would take their sweet time
getting it to you
I'm sure I've had something
come back to bite me
I just can not think of a time

So many bad judgements on my part, I've paid for years for. I won't go into details here but if someone said that I owed them 75.00 from 3 years ago, that would seem so minor in comparison that it would not be worth my time to argue. I'd call the people and acknowledge the debt and offer to make some payments until it is paid off. Even if you pay 1.00 a week, you will get this monkey off your back in less than 2 years. It is better than writing to us another 3 years from now all stressed because this is till haunting you.

I wrote this for the sake of a discussion, that is what we are on my lot for,
I could have done the same discussion without putting an example of my own life, but the discussions are more interesting with an example.
