The New Mortal Sins
1.) genetic modification
2.) carrying out experiments on humans
3.) polluting the environment
4.) causing social injustice
5.) causing poverty
6.) becoming obscenely wealthy
7.) taking drugs
I'm not Catholic, but, I have to agree with the new sins from the Vatican. What do you think? Do you think they reflect the times?

I agree that these really are vialid sins. Perhaps polluting the environment might be a bit rough as mankind has been doing this since the beginning of time. The rest I fully agree with. Anyone who is obscenely wealth (why did Catholic church pop into my head) and doesn't use that wealth to alleviate the poverty in this world are commiting a terrible sin. Yes I agree with the new sins.

Well, I agree that most of items on the list are indeed new sins of the world, except the 1st one. I decidedly understand the church will name it a sin, for it's an attempt to alter God's will by human force. But basically, the merit of genetic modification is to make the human race a better race and try to help us get away from diseases and some other misfortunes. The original intention is good, and I am glad to see that this technology in still under peaceful hands. Surely, there might be a possibility that we will one day let lose of the control and cause catastrophe. But all in all, it is a technology aiming to help human beings themselves, and hence should be promoted.

As a matter of fact I do think they go very well with the times of today. A lot of people commit these sins on a daily basis and some without knowing it. I would not commit any of these sins, I honestly feel that I am sinless from these. But they are interesting.
