He was due to arrive tommorrow afternoon but because their flight from Johannesburg to Atlanta was delayed 14 hours, they decided to stay overnight and catch the 6am flight out (which is 12am est time). That flight is 20 hours long and depending on what time they get into Atlanta, and whether there are any flights available from there to DC, they may have to stay overnight again until they can get on the next available flight. My son and I made a "welcome home" sign and I was going to bake some chocolate fudge brownies which will now have to wait until Thurs/Friday. Oh well, at least the house was nice and tidy and I won't have to do that again for a few days. So my question to you is, While travelling, have you ever incurred delays? how long were they? did you have to stay overnight to catch another flight the next day? or were you able to re-book another flight that same day? What was the experience like? Good or bad? Share with me won't you?

Hi dear i can imagine the frustration u r talking about sure it happen while u r travelling but as Pakistan is not that big so our inland maximum flight is of 3 hours many time i rebook on other carrier due to delay or some time i get delayed but one time is really memorable, we were 3 colleagues went on bisiness meeting to Khi and next day our tickets were confirmed. after all we come to air port and found out as at destination weather was not good so flight is delayed, we waited till 4 hours, finally they cancell the flight. we went back to hotel and next morning again there was no flight operationg due to heavy fog and rain at destination. we waited till 3 pm, then we change the carrier as well as destination and went to Islamabad instead of Lahore, spend one night there and next day travell by car to Lahore. so u can see 2 days trip end up in 5 days trip its happening in life

Yes it does happen all the time as I've seen delays happening in DC alot especially with bad weather and all. Well at least 4 hours isn't too long to wait though compared to 14 hours and then another 20 hours on the plane. Your trip must of been interesting though having to drive to another city. What was the scenery like while you were driving?

His BG levels haven't been too bad and did come down as far as 120s. By the looks of it though he has put on weight so I think he made the most of room service over there LOL NOw that the weather is improving, it's back to walking for us. Thanks mummymo!

Hi Maddy, I was working in another Country many years ago. My boss permitted me to spend Christmas vacation with my family. It was sort of a family reunion after being away for a year. Unfortunately, it was that time of the year when everyone was rushing to fly back to their loved ones. My flight was delayed for 6 hours. I tried to pass the time by browsing magazines, ate junk food until my stomach was screaming that it can't take in anymore junkies. :P The flight flew smoothly except I didn't expect another nightmare waiting for me. Once the airplane landed on our destination, the airport looked like it was in a state of pandemonium. We needed to wait for another 2 hours before we were allowed to step out of our plane. Too many locals and foreigners were lining up to check out of the airport. Again, I need to fall in queue and waited 8 hours before reaching the custom counter. I was supposed to be home before noon time. I got home past midnight. The most wonderful and memorable day for me, lol! PS: Ignore my response on your other discussion, lol!

14 hours is a very long delay. The flight delay is very annoying and I did experience it before. But it delayed for several hours only. As to 14 hours, that will really drive me crazy. I hope your husband will come home safe and sound and enjoy the welcome from you and your son:)

oh man that IS a stinker! no fair! i actually haven't traveled much. my dad used to a lot for work, and i remember those days. lots of layovers, delayed flights, he hated it. hated leaving the family, and then being delayed. and now a days with the security issues and not be able to pack like we used to, and the lines and UGH all the frustrations, i'm not a traveler. i love to fly and love going to airports, but you'd better give yourself time!! lol

It was a stinker but I did get a surprise call the next morning saying he was going to arrive Thursday am and not Friday so that was a relief. He is happy to be home and my son is estatic :)
