it was reported that in New Zealand, two whales were stucked out the shore in a narrow water way and couldn't get into the sea. all the experts in the field of husbandary tried to push them into the sea but faliled to do so. A dolphin came around and led the two whales into the sea. how would you explain this rational behaviour of the dolphin? according to one of the experts the dolphin has been interacting with people onshore and so probably knows the areas of that shore very well but how would you say it could let the two whales know it has come to help them out? it wonders me. does it do the same to you?

Dolphins are very smart, and the whales trusted the dolphins. I think those stories are amazing. The dolphins know there surroundings I guess, and could see the whales are in trouble. Just imagine if more people were like that.

Dolphins are the most amazing animal and it could see that the whales were stuck and the whales trusted the dolphin to lead them back into the sea. Dolphins have been known to do some wonderful things and they are good at protecting people from sharks. They are intelligent and helpful whilst only some humans are nice to animals. How are the whales to know which humans can be trusted. Dolphins are friendly around humans and perhaps made the whales feel safe and guided by another animal. I have seen dolphins at Monkey Mia in Western Australia, the Bay of the Islands in New Zealand and off the South Island. Seeing dolphins is a special experience and one that is very worthwhile.

No it does not surprise me... The dolphin has a strong reputation to protect anyone from shark attacks... including whales and humans. The whale would know that the dolphin is a friend and would follow it. We have a lot of experience with whales and dolphins in Australia. Whales have an habit to beach themselve in Australia... but we still not sure why they do it.
