Dont even start this ralph.. because you remind me how I fled my chemistry class years gone by in my high school-my chemistry teacher was quite hillarious that morning-he appeared to have heavily prepared for the lesson-it was in my dream to be a Doctor-but no one becomes a doctor without chemistry in country and i guess in the whole world. That morning, my teacher was teaching organic chemistry-he possed a question-something that required me to give some chemical equation-I was asked to stand up and make illustrations on the blackboard-i looked so foolish infront of class that i still feel embarrassed to this day when i remember that chemistry class! The teacher warned me to measure up or he would kick me out-that was last time i entered a chemistry class-I changed my line of studies to pure humanities-at university i ended up majoring in political science and Public Administration-today am an Administrator Not an Organic Chemist or a Doctor!

My organic chemistry exam is next week. I'd say, don't bother getting stuck on the reading so much. Make flash cards and memorize every reaction that you can. Learn the stuff that you do know partially now, so that you can have it perfect on the exams. Most organic chemistry exams are written so that they cannot be finished. Go with what you know and skip what you don't unless you have time at the end.
And don't forget to solve as many problems and work through as many mechanisms as you can.

Boy, that brings back the horrible memories from my college days. I had to repeat the last term because I had a D in it and in actuality, if I would have been at any other school, I would have failed miserably!!! I don't envy you at all. As far as how to get ready for it, I'm not really sure. Are you able to picture the things they are talking about? Do you have a modeling kit? I found it helped me to have a visual of the chemical structure of the things being talked about. I stil have the model kit even though it is not as complete as it was in '96 when I graduated. I wish I could help more. The best I can tell you is to relax and take it one day at a time. See if you can find a classmate who is doing well and see what their secret is. I wish I would have done that more. I might have done better. Good luck!!!
