i went first-grade when i was 6 while all of my classmates are 7, my teacher accepted me. She was so kind and pretty. she was my second mentor (my mom was first of course). she is tall and has the sweetest smile, gentle yet strict, her voice was so warm and beautiful. When i first saw her, i told myself that i want to be like her, i want to be a teacher like her.
I can still remember her face, i want to see her someday..

I was the exact same...a 6 yr old lost in a class of big bad 7 yr olds...haha!! MY teacher was round, and jolly, and the sweetest woman ever! Her name was Mrs. Cobb and I still remember her bright red cheeks. I never realize how influential in can be to have such an encouraging teacher as a mentor at such a young age!!

I remember her, and I wish I didn't. I was almost kicked out of first grade because I couldn't color inside the lines. I was always afraid to ask permission to use the toilet so I often wet myself. The teacher was always paddling me (it was allowed in the '60's). Needless to say, I would prefer to forget that era of my life.

I am so happy that you thought so fondly of your first grade teacher...mine I could not stand, she was mean & nasty, nobody liked her at all...then a couple years later I had her for art then a few years later I had her for science! I couldn't get away from her...now she is retired & when she sees me she is so nice to me! Like WTF?
