The World is going to be difficult what's your plan to survive recession?

Employee lay offs are common these days. Well it is high time to check our very own survival. It means we have to lessen our extravagances. Instead of eating out we'll manage to eat inside. Duh! but if witnessing your neighbor losing his/her job you too will be more worried what if you will be the next target. My paranoia is this, can anyone here make a guess or break a great advice on what to do?
