how do criminals on the run manage not to get caught and hide in other states ?

you can always see on the news that there's another convinct that escaped prison and now is on the run . then you hear that the last known thing about him is that he crossed the border but other than that nothing . meaning for the moment he's free . how do they manage to get transport, deceive border patrol and all other stuff needed to make a good escape ?

You just go! It's surprisingly easy.As long as you just leave then everything is ok. You just go back to normal and hope for the best.
