drop-out policies and mandatory education

i think that drop-out policies are just a dumb idea, and that mandatory education has become a failed endeavor. if a student wants to deny his government funded education, i think its perfectly fine to allow him/her to do so. the only ones who really benefit from education are the ones willing to learn, and if theyre only going to drop out once they turn 16 and can legally do so, then whats the point of forcing them to go to school? theyre only wasting money. your arguments?
