I have never personally owned one because I've always heard that they can be very mean and bite alot. Having three children, i just never thought it was a good idea to have one nor for myself. don't like the thought of getting bit by little sharp teeth. LOL! but who knows, they could all just be rumors i've heard and they could be really good pets. let me know and good luck. God bless

yeah, i guess it really does depend on how old they are when you get them and how much time you spend with them to determine whether or not they will be able to be around people. God bless

I've never owned a ferret, but I worked at a pet store where I was constantly taking care of them because we kept them in stock, so to speak. Like any animal, if loved and taken care of properly, ferrets make good pets. Ferrets do take a lot of time and maintanence and their cages should be cleaned at least twice a day. They can be litter trained though, which is a plus. And they like taking shiny things and hiding them. It's really all in how much time you can invest in the little guys. I would love to have one, but for two reasons, I don't. One reason is because my husband says no. The other reason is also the same reason my husband says no. I have six sugar gliders, two dogs, a bird, a snake, and a turtle. And that's just my animals. My daughters have four hamsters and a bird. So, needless to say I won't be getting a ferret anytime soon. lol

I have never had a ferret but I learned a lot about them because I had to write three articles about them. I don't think I would ever want a ferret, they're to mischievous. I have enough trouble with my cat.

Ferrets are very attractive little guys. I once saw one getting taken for a walk in a park near a river - it had its own harness, and it was trotting along sniffing stuff just like a dog would. I spoke to the ferret's owner and she said thay're affectionate pets. Me, I think I'll stick with dogs - I understand dogs. But hey, to each their own, right?

I have never had one but I have friends that did, and I know my mom had some renters that had one. It is my experience that they smell bad.
Something to keep in mind!! If you are renting, make sure you clear it with your landlord, and if you own your home, you're going to want to look into odor controll. That smell does get into the walls and carpet.
They're kind of fun animals otherwise, but definitely not for me. I couldn't handle the smell.
