Favourite Toy at 18 months?

My son completely ignores his toy boxes full of toys. He would far rather sit on the floor with a pile of pots and pans to play with. He likes to take the wooden spatula & bash the pans with it, and enjoys pretending to whisk & spoon things. I have a superb photo of him sitting in a frying pan holding a whisk & a potato! Only he knows what he's doing :-)
I think I might buy him a play kitchen, but I expect he'd rather be playing with the 'real thing'.
What did your kids most enjoy playing with at this age?

It's not the pots n' pans he wants.
He wants his own drum set.
He could be the next famous Rock N Roll drummer.

NOOOOooooooo!!!!!
His big brother has started playing with his keyboard, and those prerecorded beats drive me beserk.
Little one was using a meat tenderising hammer to whack a gas bottle before I stopped him earlier, so I reckon you could be right unfortunately.

lolololo ..... Not speaking about having pre-recorded instruments. Talking about getting real drum set for kids. They can get develope their own rythm, even turn the radio on and let them beat with the tunes.

My son is 18 months old and loves doing puzzles. If not puzzles, he wants us to either read books or play ball with him. We got him a play vacuum for Christmas and he loves to imitate us while we clean. He also has become quite the climber, so anything he can climb on always entertains him...coffee table, couch, chairs, etc.

Mine's a little cleaner too! We have a restaurant where we go to where they keep the broom & dustpan hidden behind the ciggie machine. Well he knows right where they are & goes straight over to pull them out. He can keep himself occupied for ages sweeping the floor & carrying them about. It's Ok if the place is empty but it gets a bit bit challenging when it's full & he keeps bashing people with the other end of the broom! It's a good job he's cute ;-)

i can totally relate. it annoys me so much how she would rummage through out cabinet which holds the plates and stuff and disarrange everything in there. she doesn't enjoy playing with toys either. she's now 2 and finds it easy to yank open the cabinet door no matter how hard i push it in (there's no outside lock). she had manage to break a plate, glass and some jars. sometimes, i'm just too tired watching her that i'd just let her squat on the floor and make a mess out of our tupperware collection and other plastic containers. it keeps her occupied for a long time and that means a few golden minutes of free time.

Oh I have no worries with letting him play with the Tupperware if it keeps him happy. But if I don't give him pans & pots to go with it he tries to pull things off the draining board & worktops & I end up with broken crockery.
Between him and the cats I currently have no cereal bowls left!
