Are You A Noisy Neighbor If You Do This??

Okay here is one of my thought provoking discussions to ponder about. This is especially geared for you people who are apartment dwellers..but heck it could apply to you who live in homes as well. I think everyone can agree, there's nothing more annoying than a noisy neighbor...you know...the one who plays music until the wee small hours of the morning...having loud raunchy parties until dawn...deciding to blow their bugle, horn, play their electric guitar late, bang on drums...I think we'll agree how annoying this is But then it occurred to me...could I be accused of being a noisy neighbor about this?? You see, I don't get a chance to watch TV until the late wee small hours of the morning....and no, I DON'T have the TV loud....but something else might bother my downstairs neighbors...I have a habit of sitting on my bare wooden floors in front of the TV...it's late, it's quiet, save for the soft volume of my TV....and then.......... While sitting on that bare, wooden floor in front of my TV I let out a loud kaboom...yes, folks..I make a humdinger of a fart..I've passed wind big time....that I'm surprised doesn't register a 8.00 on the Richter scale and make everyone's walls rattle and shatter glass. Okay...admit it folks...have you ever let out a real kaboom of a fart??...does it concern you that maybe your loud farts might be disturbing your neighbors???...have they called the cops on you for disturbing the peace? What do you do to contain those blasts of energy from your body? Do you try to muffle them somehow?

NORMALLY I don't fart really loudly. However, the former roommate did! One time the current roommate and I were on the OTHER side of the house from the former roommate with 2 closed doors between us and she let lose a fart. At that time I had 2 phone lines. I picked up the second line and called her on the first to say something to her about it! The roomie & I STILL talk about it!

My roomie, as compared to the former roomie, also has some powerful gas. Her dog likes to sleep under the covers when its cold, but she's come out gasping according the the roomie on especially bad nights!

My cats often give me strange looks when I let out a big one..in fact if I'm lying in bed reading before I go to sleep and they are cuddled near me and I let one out they jump down to get away from me...

I don't know what to say about this. I don't think your neighbors think your farting is loud, even if it is. What I mean is everybody farts and some are really loud. As long as your not being loud all the time (music, t.v, and such)then I wouldn't worry about it. Plus your neighbors haven't said anything. Right?

Mmmm...I don't know if neighbors would exactly want to complain about something like that if they did hear me....I mean that would be a strange conversation....just picture it. Instead of a neighbor approaching you and asking you not to play music too loud or late, they say..."Could you please not fart so loud?"

You do make a good point. I don't know how comfortable a conversation that would be. Hopefully if they do hear you, they don't realize what the sound is.

If something like that hapen they better not call the cops lol. The only time I get nosey if new kids are in neighbors back yard then I call the or daughter does to see if they know some one strange is back there. Like one night shortly afer we moved here these kids were crawling over the fence to the back yard aand I asked who the heck they were when one of the girls popped up and told me she lived there. Well the father later thanked me for watching out for the place

yes I did think that they were trying to break in I mean a bunch of teens crawling over a fence when one that lived there would have been ok. and yes they are great neighbor. and they are also now our only babysitter when we want to go out

If I did that, and I do not have bare wooden floors (carpets muffle the sound), the neighbors would be complaining about that foul odor. They would be coming up to my front door, ringing the doorbell, gas mask on, and with a fumigator. I would then get a visit from the health department, my house would be put in quarintine, and a city wide warning would be issued, and all my neighbors would be temporarily moved until the situation becomes a little more tolerable. :)

You're shameless, pyewacket! While I admit that I might have qualified as one of those noisy neighbors in the past(love loud music), I have become a bit more tame over the last few years. Evidently the walls in my apartment building are pretty thick since I only occasionally hear the flushing of my upstairs neighbor's toilet, so I would assume that no one can hear me when I decide to cut loose with the big ones.

Yes, I'm a bad girl I wonder though about cutting loose a big one in the bathroom as the acoustics are phenomenal in there, ever notice?

Most of the time, I'm pretty quiet with my farts. I don't try to muffle them. I usually don't worry about them. I'm an apartment dweller and I don't worry about that kind of thing from my neighbors. Now if they are constantly fighting or something, I might worry about it, but not passing gas.

Every once in a while one of my neighbors are fighting...or maybe not..one neighbor has a habit of just plain talking loud anyway on the phone to her friend, but the way she talks it almost does sound like a major fight

I think that would be far more worrisome than whether I was too loud when passing gas. After all, if it sounds like people are killing each other (even if they are not), then that would be disruptive. I always thought it was funny...I can walk down the street in China and the people sound like they are very angry or yelling at each other. I would turn around and they are laughing and having a good time. Oh well.

Leave it to you to come up with a discussion like this, pye. My sides hurt laughing so hard. Yeah, anything dropped on a wooden floor or in your case, a monsterous fart, would really echo in a quiet room. Bet you woke up your downstairs neighbors with it. lol

Wow! That's really annoying. Makes one pissed off. I don't have habits of getting loud. And I strongly believe that you have a noisy neighbor. The best thing to do maybe is to let them know that they are disturbing.

I am so glad that I don't have this problem because I don't have anyone that lives around me. No house for a bit, but close enough to walk to if really need be, but on the other hand, I have 4 boys and that can get to be a real problem with bad wind in this house.

i,ve never been a kind of noisy neighbour except for once when i kept on sleeping and my alarm kept ringing on and one of the neighbours requested me to turn it off because it was time of early morning. my views on this are quiet clear live happy and let others live happily if u will care about them they too would be forced from their inner heart to be careful about u every one in this world irrespective of his status and power has equal oppourtunity to live happy, which is given to him by the superpower i.e. god itself nobody should work against it and it is the only way to live happy the conclusion is that do watever u want to do but do not interfer the comfort area of others, this will definitely help u in overcoming all the problems after all that if u h've problem from somebody then talk directly and straight away to him, there is no problem which couldn't be solved by a talk with best wishes god bless

Oh, having an alarm go off early in the morning is nothing and surprised your neighbors complained..my neighbor upstairs used to play her music really loud as I think that was her way off waking up..we're talking 5 in the morning...thank goodness she no longer does that as I think a lot of people complained about it

I don't do anything that might be considered disturbing, other than shouting obscenities when I'm angry, but that's during the day. On the other hand,I was trouble by a woman above that would make horrible hawking sounds in the morning, she was probably sick. I wouldn't take part in a farting contest, maybe in a spitting one.

I don't think I have ever farted loud enough for the neighbors to hear. I think the real question here should be "Can they smell it?" Loud farts can easily be blamed on other objests but if they can smell it, its a whole another story.

Sounds like you should sit on a cushion Pyewacket! I'm not a farter, but I used to be able to burp fit to make the windows rattle. One day I forgot where I was & produced an absolute corker whilst I was in the store cupboard at work . I really didn't realise how loud it must have been till I came out to see a sea of shocked faces looking at me. Incredible acoustics in that cupboard was my excuse heehee.

I had a big bowl of white beans last night topped off with lots of seasoning too. I'm going to boost my octane in my gas tank and see if I get more mileage on the gallon with all the gas. The only problem right now is puting a muffle on the backfires.

Hello Pyewacket, Before I bought my house, I had a few problems with noisey neighbors but I have never heard a fart through the walls and I hope the neighbors never heard mine(if they did they must have been too embarrassed to say anything). I've never tried to muffle they, in fact I proudly admit that that was me. I could just imagine the police telling me that one of my neighbors was complaining about my farting to loudly(that would be pretty funny). I would think that if one of your neighbors did hear it they would wonder what that noise was. lol Take care, Terry

Hehee...yes, can you imagine a neighbor if they did call the cops cause someone was disturbing the peace for farting? That would be a new one for the records. My cats DO however give me insulting looks at me when I let one out..

i think most cops would be in tears laughing if they were called for that. as far as neighbors go though-i had an apartment with a vent in the bathroom that connected to another bath directly upstairs.well,i was in the bath one night, when my neighbor farted really loudly-the sound travelled down.i couldn't help but bust up laughing, and i guess he heard me,and then he did too. the next time he came out of his apartment and saw me,he was still laughing,as was i. things like that actually break up the occasional monotony ;)

thankies:) the thing that was even funnier-my blue cat used to look up at the vent-like he was waiting for a noise. i think if the guy had known that,he would have moved :)=)

Noisy Neighbor - is not something I can put up with
I've had the cops called on me for playing a simon game in my apartment. The woman, or should I say, old hag, below me could hear a pin drop it seems. She called us and complained so I moved it to another area and still she complained so I told her she'd have to deal with it or get some ear plugs. Instead, she called the cops. Cop came out and couldn't understand what the problem was and told her so. He left and I continued to do my thing and she calls the cops again. The door was open and hubby says to the cop, "she must be on the rag or something" and the cop laughed and said that there was nothing wrong and told her so and left. This old hag came upstairs and raised cain and able over what hubby had said and then she tried to tell us how we should be in our apartment and that's when I jumped up and got in her face and told her she had better leave while she was still in one piece because I'm about to take her apart and down the stairs which I was sure she wouldn't like! LOL She left in a huff and puff and left us alone. LOL

I'm not apartment dweller, but what I experienced would have been worse than what you mentioned as 'noisy'. at least it includes smokes, just judge from what I've been through, let me explain it a bit here and you can count you're still better than my neighbor. I would always had 'nightmares' every new year eve (no matter what kind of international calendar, chinese new year, whatever). I live in homes area where the neighbors were so troublesome when it was new year eve. they would play fireworks, many kinds of BIG and noisy fireworks. perhaps you can imagine if you heard these noisy things (complete with the thick smokes they caused, not to mention how the smokes felt like when it reached your eyes and nose), it always lasted until 2 in the midnight. this is always the first thing I would need to anticipate on every eve of big holiday, especially 'new year'. it seemed like everyone must not sleep as they made party, they wouldn't care if you wanna sleep earlier at the special eve / night or whatever, or whether you were sick, they wouldn't care. they wouldn't care if the smokes would enter in your windows or something like that, even if your windows were closed, you would have to keep the air conditioner off or it would suck the smoke into your house and bedroom. just imagine a new year eve this way, every single year. I wish the security officers could do something towards these people, no matter how we reported them, it would happen again and again every season, and all I could do is only keeping my patience until I can afford to buy a new house in a peaceful area. sigh. (-.-) now, since you mentioned apartment situation, might be my next pick up will still be homes area. :P

I 'm not a noisy girl, even my fart is very gentle and quiet.I am a partment dweller ,sometimes it is very noisy around ,but I have get used to it.I can fall asleep with the noisy songs crying out from my neighbor's sound box. You said you can make a humdinger of fart that can make everyone's walls rattle and shatter gass, how could you make that blast of fart ? You must have huge energy cantained in your body for many years! It really make me sad that I can't make a fart like that, mine is aways so quiet, while my brother can make huge kaboom of a fart and laughing at me making faces. So ,what is your open sesame?
