Being A Writer

I was just paid from Mylot. Do you feel your a better writer every time you get paid? Is a sign of a good writer somebody that has been paid for writing? I feel happy every time I'm paid, but not sure if I am getting better or just writing on better subjects.
Do you ever feel like you work so hard on some questions and the number of responses doesn't seem right for working hard on the question? This one is easy for me to answer yes. A couple days ago I posted a political question that received one response and I knew people would avoid it because the post is long. I don't type fast and spent over 30 minutes writing one post yet it was ignored by lots of people.

WOW Congrats I am finally past the $2 mark. lol
What does it take to get paid quickly and more money? I mean I am so new and trying to figure it out, but if it is going to take months for me to get paid I don't think it is worth it.
Thanks

I made 3 changes that caused my earnings to increase. First I deleted 1/2 of my friend list, as they were no longer active and it just made my list look big when it really wasn't big.
2nd I reduced my interests to the ones I would really post discussions and felt like I could answer any question with a detailed answer. This shrunk my list to a more reasonable number for me to answer each day. I was under to much stress trying to make lots of posts each day.
3rd I try to post as detailed a response as I can every time. I'm willing to spend up to an hour on any response; specially, if it will help somebody with a bad situation. Some examples are fish in trouble, plant help, and television information these are just a few topics that I spend extra time replying.

I'm sorry I didn't reply to your political discussion. I just dont get time to respond to all my friends discussions nowadays. There are a lot I have to leave out.
Politics doesn't bother me as a discussion, but sometimes they are too specific for to be able to comment on. Such as American politics.

Thank you for noticing the topic. I try very hard to reply to everyone on my friend list, but can't answer them all either. There needs to be more hours in a day.

No, I don't think that getting paid on here is any sort of recognition of being a good or better writer. All kinds of people post on here and half of them can barely speak english .
I'm sorry if my post is less than glowing, but I'm getting truly aggravated with mylot. This new filter that they've added, or whatever it is, is very discouraging to someone that likes to give long responses to questions only to have them deleted the second that they're submitted.

I can understand your frustration, as had all kinds of problems responding to a discussion yesterday. I had to change words and use symbols to post certain words. Thank you for a very honest answer.

Well, payouts doesn't seem to declare you're a good writer, though you might learn something through the days you are trying hard to reach your payout. It also takes time and knowledge to be able to be paid here so I should say that everybody improves over time. :)

indirectly your talent at writing does effect your pay here at mylot - if you are able to write well to the targeted audience then they will perhaps be compelled to answering more of your discussions, which in turn may generate their friends answering your discussions as well.
The more activity on your discussions - the better chances for an increase of reward.

I do agree that finding the right audience can mean more posts on a discussion. The more activity on my discussions the more I have made each day. This is something I'm certain is correct based on my earnings.

Congratulations! It is always nice to be paid for what you like to do. I want to be a writer one day, but I don't feel like I am ready to do it now. Here on mylot I don't feel like I am a writer, I feel like I am a person who shares ideas and thought with other people, and I like it.

I think all writing is good experience. Whatever inspires us to write will make us all better writers. MyLot, Gather, MySpace and other sites like this on line are all great places to practice, and to meet new people who might give us good advice on our writing.

When you have a long post, its better to break it up into paragraphs so its easier read. That way you will get readers and responses to your longer posts, as long as the information is good.
I had an experience here that proved this point. I had posted a review about a website that teaches people for free how to make referrals. I had tons of good information in there. The problem is, afterwards I added a picture to the discussion. I didn't know that this would erase all the spaces between the paragraphs, but I saw this once I finished posting. It turned out to be one very long paragraph.
Ultimately, only one person responded to that discussion. Not too many people want to read a whole page of writing without breaks, because it takes longer to understand and digest.
