Snow days push back summer vacation.

I am NOT happy about this! I work at my children's school, and because of all the snow days that have to be made up, we've lost all but one day of our Spring Break, and we have ONE day before summer school starts! My family and I had planned on going to Texas for vacation as soon as school's out, and guess what?! I have to work Summer School! We were supposed to go the minute school was out and be back before summer school started. Now, we may have to push our vacation back another month. I know it's not the school's fault that we have to make up these extra days, but they DO have control over when summer schools starts. They could have pushed Summer school back at least a week. To give the kids some kind of break before summer school starts. Anyone else having issues with the snow days?

Yes, we do. We just recieved word today that they are taking away 2 days of spring break. They would take all 3 but they are not allowed as one is Good Friday. We have 2 days of Saturday school and school will be in session 1 extra day at the end of the year. The kids are not real happy, but at least they aren't going an extra week in the summer. I hope they change things for you as well.

Our spring break was originally from March 31st to April 4th. But, as of all the snow days, they've taken all but one day - April 4th. However, Tuesday of this week, we were dismissed at 12:30 due to all the rain and flooding in our area. We were also dismissed all of Wednesday and today due to the flooding. I have no idea what they're going to do about this. We're already going to school 10 days passed our original 'last day of school.' This will add 2 more days to the end of the year unless they take the only day of spring break that we had and make up the other day some other way. I have, however, been informed by my boss that I will not have to change my vacation plans. We'd planned to leave on Tuesday, the 27th, since we were out of school on the 24th. I asked her yesterday if I was going to have to cancel reservations for the 27th and she told me I would not have to, that we would get a sub to work for me on that day, if administration chooses to have us work on the 27th. So, for that, I'm certainly grateful!

I live in Missouri. They always allow for a few days missed because it's just inevitable. But, we were out for nearly 2 weeks at a time, then had school for 3 days and were out for another week. The state has pardoned us 10 of those missed days that we don't have to make up, but it's still crummy that summer school starts so close to regular school being dismissed. ;[

Wow that stinks! I'm not in school anymore so I don't have to deal with extra school days, however my paycheck has been lacking a bit, due to the snow and not being able to make it to work.

Paychecks definitely lack during the snow days. Most of the other workers had been there long enough to draw unemployment during those snow days, but I wasn't one of them. ;[ I think the worst week during those snow days was 14 hours. And that's for 2 weeks since we only get paid every 2 weeks! Lol.
