Why do some people think that drinking is bad?

I believe anything that is not done for God is bad because your life should be about serving Him. And drinking in no way serves our Lord.

The bible says that our bodies are a temple. I think that some people think drinking is wrong because is damages our "temple". I personally don't think that drinking is wrong.

Yep, nothing but overconsumption is bad. Priests drink too, right? Drinking's not bad! :)

I think Drinking is bad tooo bad. Can anyone tell me what do u get by drinking these kind of things. I all that is only for showing people that you are a cool buddy or its showing ur sadness........ Do what do u think who are u the one who is sad or think that ur looking cool in front of others. ....................................

well i dont agree on people drinking alchol like often because my grandmother did and it killed her in the end so am unhappy to hear about this topic -cry-

Yes I think drinking much is wrong the Bible . My mother said that whatever things much is bad . I think so ,too . I like drink as well . And I know that is bad to my health . So I just drink in sometimes .

yes the bible does condemn societies like ancient babylon for drinking etc. it is also unhealthy if you drink to the point that you are sick, but anything in moderation in my opinion is okay

I am not sure about the bible on drinks. But I don't think drinking is any bad. Many reported health benefits even. I drink moderately myself.

Ido not think drinking is wrong only irresponsible drinking to the point of intoxication. that is wrong as it can harm you and if you get behind the steering wheel it can harm others. I do not think it is against the bible only drunkeness is. that is my opinion.

Sorry, I havent read the replies as I don't have time right now. BUT. I don't know about the bible, I just think that people considder drinking bad because it makes people do stupid things. such as.. "Drinking and Driving" I've heard of alot of deaths and people getting hurt.. It effects their entire life after that. and it was all due to them drinking. If they wouldnt have been, people would still be alive today, people wouldnt be in nursing homes at the age of 30! living like a veggie. Its horrible to see what it does. People are def. not responsible* enough to handle drinking the right way. - Sure a few drinks arent that bad. but thats if your responsible and know how to handle yourself. Sorry it didnt really answer the question about the bible. I cant remember much about what it says.

People want to tell you drinking is bad because it makes them feel superior to you. What they don't get is the people who came up with that rule only wanted to control them. Too much individual initiative is bad in the eyes of any religion

People believe drinking is bad for the simple fact it makes them feel superior to those of us who do drink. As religion was used to control their behavior they think they should try and use it to control yours. They try and justify their behavior as doing the Lords work, so any means they use are acceptable so long as they tried to accomplish his ends. It is pompous and arrogant to think the the almighty would need a craven sycophant's help to do his work for him. What they fail to realize is how doing so is using his name in the pursuit of vanity, that is using his name in vain. Next time some do gooder sticks their nose in to your business remind them of this and tell them exactly how you feel with a finger in the air or fist in the face if you so desire...

Can't say I see anything wrong with drinking. I'm not sure how the whole idea of drinking being a sin came into being... I think that maybe there are people who go to the extreme and say that all drinking is bad because of where it can lead in the long run if you don't drink in moderation. Perhaps it started off as a "better safe than sorry mentality?" Though really anything that is taken in excess can be a sin... eating, sleeping, working, etc. It really is a fascinating concept...
