First Few Days As A Substitute Teacher

I've been thinking about going back to school to get my teaching credentials (I had originally wanted to be a teacher when I was in high school, but bowed down to my counselor's suggestion that I major in accounting - I am such a people pleaser!). Anyway, I decided to sub to see if it is something I would like to do. I got my sub license in the mail on Saturday and brought it down to my kid's elementary school on Monday - they asked if I wanted to start the very next day! I subbed in a first grade class for 2 days and will be subbing in a 4th grade class tomorrow. So far so good! The teacher that I subbed for was very organized and left lesson plans detailing down to the minute what I was supposed to do. It made it very easy! The kids were great (albeit a bit demanding - "can I go to the bathroom?", "can I get a drink?" "tie my shoe", "she's being mean to me.", etc.), but overall not too bad.

Being a teacher is a noble job. So if you decided to be a teacher, go for it. However you must be ready to deal with all kinds of students espcially their behaviours. At the same time you must be ready to prepare daily lesson plans in order to have a well plan lesson for the day. To know and identify the needs of each student is not an easy task and therefore you must be able to understand them well.

It sound like you're enjoying it, Kelly. I don't doubt it. Teaching kids is one of my most favorite jobs to do. I love helping children how to grow up properly although there are some bits of hang ups but I don't mind. I enjoy having the opportunity to mold children's character not only teach them how to read, write and the likes.

yes,it seems that you are living a very happy life to be a substitute teacher.To be a teacher is many people's dream in the students'ages,so did I.However,the reality is quite different that I am working in a company now.If I have a chance to go back to school,it is my pleasure to do that.And those children are very cute and lovely,I also love them very much!
