Does anyone else HATE it when people use stupid abbreviations for words they don't need to abbreviate? I mean, who can't type out "you" or "hate"?
Is it laziness, trying too hard to be cool or just a new type of culture trend that will (hopefully) disappear soon?

I use "chatspeak" but I try not to go overboard with. I use the most common ones like lol rotfl g2g ect but I think its when you try to shorten everything that it goes to far.

Exactly! The first time I saw someone do an entire conversation like that was the first time I really felt old. I was like, 21 at the time.

it gets to me sometimes, although, i don't exactly have clean hands myself. i mean, because, i also abbreviate my text messages to save on the number of characters to send. but i don't abbreviate when posting here. i only do that when i'm sending text messages from my mobile phone.

I hate it in emails and blogs, here it doesn't bother me so much

I really only use it when I chat with my 11 yr. old daughter online. And only to bug the heck out of her.
I can type fast - I don't need to use chatspeak! LOL (ok - not much anyway!)

Exactly! That whole 90 wpm thing doesn't really work when you're trying to think of abbreviations to type.
