Sore gum/mouth

So for the last 4 days the back of my gum behind my last tooth has been killing me. It feels like a cut, but the pain feels like its spreading to the back of my throat as if it's bruised.
I bought some numbing stuff for gums...doesn't seem to do much. Pain reliver works a bit so I've been taking that.
My boyfriend says he sees a little white bump surrounded by red. Maybe a pimple? a canker sore? I had my wisdom teeth out about 3 or 4 years ago so it can't be a tooth.
I was wondering about maybe using hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash...not sure.

I will try that tonight, thank you. I'm 27 and have never had strep, so I have no idea what it feels like. This pain isn't like a sore throat, feels more like a throbing but its my gum and not my tooth. I can even feel it in my cheek bone.
I took two Advil this morning and its cut the pain in half...still there but not so bad.
Thanks for the response.

Also try using Peroxyl. It's made by Colgate near the mouthwash. Good stuff!

Marcie I totally bought that Friday night after work lol. It did help a lot! The pain has mostly gone away except for when I actually touch it...its still a bit tender. But nothing like it was.
Funny how you mentioned that stuff, I'd recommed it to anyone it worked great!

I have used hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash before. If you use it then you will know if you have a cut back there because it will bubble up. It is worth a shot. If the pain continues I would see a doctor to make sure you do not have anything serious wrong with you.
