I have been reading and responding to a lot of questions about mylot, as of late. I think that all the members here should read the guidelines so they know all the rules, and then they wouldn't need to ask all these questions that are answered in the guidelines. I don't understand how a person can join a site and not check out everything on the site, before they become active in it. What if this site was a scam and you just wasted a month and a half working it to find out you got scammed and didn't get paid for the work. Not that I am saying this site is a scam, it's not, but what if.
I also think it is a good idea for all older members to read them every once in awhile to refresh our memories. Or because maybe another rule has been added. I try to read the guidelines about every month just so I know for sure that I am abiding by them.
Do you read the guidelines before you became active, or just to refresh your memories? Or am I the only one doing this?

Yes I do, I came here during the time where scums are all-over and a friend of mine told me to not only read the guidelines but to also understand it. I even bookmarked it, so I could check the DO's and DONT's section every once in a while. I've also checked mylot's profile, I found out that there're more informations regarding the guidelines, FAQ's and TO's there.
I'm also wondering what other members are trying to do here, since the guidelines can easily be check it where it's very easy to access if only they just bother doing it.

I think you'll find only a few who does read and understand the meaning of your posts, since some of them would obviously feel defensive because they might be guilty on some circumstances!
Nevertheless, you'll only get to receive a few who'd understand your point here..

Thanks, you do understand what I am trying to get across. Some of the responses I have received here took my discussion as a negative instead of trying to understand what I am saying. All I am saying is read the guidelines once in awhile so you can take complete advantage of this wonderful site.

I skimmed over them when i first joined to make sure i knew what i was supposed to do.. cause i didn't have someone to teach my what i was doing!! but it was a lot to read and take in all at once.
If i know the answer to something that a new member is asking, i dont mind answering them, or looking up the answer for them.. I think its good to be helpful to the newbs as it will make them enjoy the site more when us older members are nice to them ;)

I am not saying not to help people with their questions, I am just saying that if they have a question about mylot, why not try to find it themselves first, and then if they still odn't know, or don't understand, then ask for help. But some of the questions are really simple like can I respond with one or two words, or can I post my referral link. Questions that are simple and directly answered in the guidelines. And some of the members asking these questions have been a member with mylot for over a year and they still don't know the rules, come on. All I am saying is, check the guidelines every once in awhile to refresh your memory and then you wouldn't have to worry about breaking any rules and would know why your discussion was deleted.

It doesn't hurt to re-read the guidelines every now and then. I have to admit when I started I did look at them, but skimmed over it getting the general idea. I just went back and read them again and found a few I'd forgotten about. I agree that a lot of the guidelines are just common sense and courtesy. The guideline about using polls as discussions is a tricky one I think.

Hello dear chrislotz. I think that you are quite right to say so. I am sorry to say that I did not read clearly all of the guidelines before I became active and still right now. I get used to the guidelines during each participation in the discussions. So I learn while participating. . Thanks again for those helpful tips.

Hi Chris
I'm a newbie and I did read the guidlines when I joined but I still sometimes post questions about MyLot. Sometimes even though I know the 'rules' it is nice to hear the opinions of other MyLot users, especially ones that have been around much longer than I have.

I always read the guidelines before I became active on any sites. I just wanted to make sure that I would know the rules, how the site worked, etc. and everytime I didn't understand about something within the site's terms or usage, I would skim back to the guidelines again.
this also applies to my participation in myLot.
however, according to my experience in some other sites, especially GPT, I would also need to check out their forums (if there were available), because I could track how the members had been through during their participation in the sites.
it is always recommended to check back the guidelines / faq / terms of the sites once after a while, maybe there has been update or change, who knows ... *shrug*

I totally agree with you and when I see a new member asking questions about mylot after I respond to it I also tell them they should read the guidelines and faq's. Unfortunately I think they take that the wrong way and my rating goes down...lol. I've been here quite awhile and with all the new changes I do check the quidelines every few weeks.

I don't read the guidelines.I just start using the site.Using the site often i learn about the site.So i have no trouble in using sites without guidelines.but i think guideline should be a must on every site.If a person doesn't follow anything he can read the guidelines.
