It good to know them...It's interesting how the names were formed...every name relates to a certain caharacteristic of the species. It's just like a puzzle to understand them and it was a great job done by the ones who named them. It's also interesting to see that the food chain worked then like it works today, even if the species were not so specialized. And when I read all these names you have put here, I realized biodiversity is not a modern concept...I never counted how many dinosaur species I know, but it seems there are enough to make a biodiversity.

I had no idea, thanks for sharing. I remembered the longest from a book I read a while ago. I believe it was called The Evolution and extinction of dinosaurs, written by Dave Weishampel and some other "Dave" that I can't remember his name right now... If I'm not mistaking, there was also a mention of the smallest dinosaur found to that date, and it was a Ceratopsian, related to Psittacosaurus.

well yeah. kewl names. Dinosaures were existed in Mesozoic era and stopped existing about 60,000,000 years ago. Mesozoic period started 245 Million years ago to 65 Million years. They were large bipedal and quadrupedal . And there are many research on these giant reptiles. I personally have so much interest in these animals, some times i think how will be they living, how this earth would be at that age and what were other animals and atmosphere. I wish i could go in that period with a time machine . But alas :( it doesn't exist :D Some of the dinosaures were Herbivorous (animals which eat plants and trees), some were Carvivorous (which feed on flesh) and the third category i forgot the specific word, (animals which feed on both flesh and plants). Jurassic park movies were superb , one must watch .

thanks for replying UB . yes u r right ofcourse, they were real deadly creatures , i think the most dreadful creatures of this world ever , and i dont think so there will be more dreadful and harmful giant creatures in future more than the creatures which were in this era. And yes i recalled the name of the 3rd category which feeds on both flesh and plants , they r called Omnivorous. Well! what a world was that :s
