Writing verses for greeting cards.

I also make my own cards, though usually I put more art work in them than actual verses. Have you ever tryed to take a simple saying (one thats widly known), and just expand on it? Have you tried the traditional sites such as Hallmark and other greeting card companies online to see what's new? Do you actually work for a greeting card company? That would be a fun and interesting job.
