Can participants mark a 'best response"?

What prompted this discussion was that a member had remarrked in her discussion that she had been notified by email about her getting the best response. Earlier, when I used to write in Yahoo answers, I would get notifications from yahoo answers.. If the person who posted the question did not select the best answer, the participating members , marking it positive would get together [meaning the number of positive ratings would be taken into account]and we got a notification that said that the answers community had picked a 'Best answer ' for a particular question. Do you think this is a good idea that can be suggested to mylot.com?
