Do you do a giant cleaning job before you go away ? i'm only going away for three days, but i'll only be a home a few hours before bedtime and then the next morning is my c section. I leave tommorrow morning/noon, so i'm trying to get everything done today. but i need to keep taking breaks due to my tiredness and pregnantness. lol. I am hoping that my apartment will sparkle before i leave and when i come back my hubby will not have made TOO big of a mess of the place!! Do you do this too so you come home to a nice clean house ? I didn't one xmas when we went home for holidays, we were gone almost two weeks, and when i came back i was SO DEPRESSED that the place was such a big mess AND that i left my mommy back on the east coast!! I laerned my lesson!

O yes, whenever I am going to be gone for a while, I much prefer to clean so I don't have to when I get back..Even if I am going to be gone for the day, I want the dishes done and most of the clutter taken care of..But with my family it is nearly impossible..

I also am a huge cleaning fan before I go away. I hate coming home to a dirty house after having been on a great vacation. You come home tired for all the travel and activities and it is nice to come home to a clean place to relax and just hang out before the real world takes you back.

Hey Sissy I know what you mean. I hate nothing worse then coming home to a messy house. Its really depressing especially if you keep your house in good shape. I would just keep taking breaks like you said. Dont wear yourself out too much. Try and lay down even if you dont sleep just lay for awhile it will help alot. Good luck sweetie.

Sweety you should be leaving that for hubby to do - have I taught you nothing? tut tut tut I used to always try and do that if for no other reason to stop my Gran feeling she had to do it when she came across to feed the cat but it turns out she gets very upset as she feels it is part of her 'job' to do it whilst we are gone! It is great we leave a normal family home and come back to a shining palace! I will miss you when you are gone but you have a great time and rest huh? Look forward to hearing of the safe arrival of baby sissy! xx

It's always nice to come home to a clean house. Going on a cleaning spree usually happens just before birthing, I think I read somewhere it's called nesting?

I always cleaned the house before we leave for an extended period of time. My mom did this when I was little so it is embedded in my brain. My MIL doesn't do that. The last time they all went out of tow we came by and fed the cat the house was so gross! She had not done the dishes before she left and they were sitting in the sink for 5 days!!!

Oh yes! I do a big cleaning job before I leave anywhere. But the first time I left hubby behind, I came back to a warzone and couldn't really handle it...especially coming back with a kid and having to clean up everything soon after. But I did give hubby a major yelling then. He hasn't really turned to a clean freak...but the level of messiness has decreased. Apparently, he was used to a mother who would say nothing about 2 week old dishes in the sink and would quietly clean it herself...and expected it of me! Now I return to just a few clothes strewn around..which is something I can manage. I like to come back to a clean house.

when my youngest son lived to Indiana I would go oer there to spend the weekend and I would always clean my apartment before I left because whenb I would come home I would have to put everything that I took with me away but now he lives in Illinois so I do not go much of anywhere any more

It is always refreshing and relaxing going into a clean home with a good scent. i mean... at this point in time, there are lots of things for me to do. But no matter how busy i am, I see to it that my house is clean and smells great. Once I've been with a friend who dont know how to clean her room. She stayed with me for 3 days and my place had been a total mess. Her clothes anywhere. Her things and slippers on the floor. I really had a hard time with her. But I believe that during that time... i have no other choice but to keep quiet. Its only for 3 days.

House cleaning - Before vacation? No way. I tidy up some and that's it
No I don't go through a enormous cleaning but I do kind of straighten things up a little bit before going anywhere. No need to clean clean house because it's not going to look like that when I return so I just tidy up some and be done with it. lol

Hey Sissy-girl! First off, best of luck, and I'm sure many of us will be thinking of you and wishing their best. Quick response is that I seem never to clean up. Maybe that should be one o fmy wishes if I catch a genie or something. I am sooo messy! Eeek. It runs in my family a bit. But at least my studio is very neat, and when we have a party, we clean like mad. But upstairs, nobody not in our family is allowed to even step up there and see the mess.

I usually make such a huge mess trying to pack only the essentials I need to go on a vacation that by the time I get back I had forgotten I had left such a big mess behind. Then I don't want to deal with the luggage because I have a huge mess to clean up. To give you an idea, I got back from my last weekend trip the end of September. There is still clothes in my suitcase.

Well we should always keep our house clean..I like having my house cleaned and it is really kind of depressing to come home to an unclean house..but ofcourse with your situation that you are pregnant you shouldn't strain yourself with that. Have somebody else clean it for you. Take care!

I do a cleanup but not a big one if you know what I mean. I tidy up and put things away, just so that when I get back its at least tidy and it can wait a day or two before I do a thorough clean-up :)

oh yes prior to my c-sections (3) I had my nesting instincts kick in and scoured the house top to bottom - I did not want to have a mess waiting for me when I got home - sore from the surgery and tired from the trauma and strain of childbirthing and nourishing a new babe.... adly each time I left the house sparkling and came home to it dull. if this happens for you - do yourself a favor and do not get worked up over their lack of consideration... they do not realize what it is they have done and it will only spoil a time that should be lavished with joy. I wish you the best for your surgery, recovery, and joy of your tiny yet great blessing.

Yes all the time, can't handle leaving the place in a mess. As I know when I come back from vacation I will be tired and the last thing I will feel like doing is cleaning up. You are also nesting, lol, I was cleaning like crazy towards the end of my pregnansy. It has slowed down a litlle now, but still messy house easily irritates me at the moment. Not long now, before bubs arrives, are you getting anxious?

I know what you mean . When I fell and broke my shoulder I had no idea I was not going to be home for a month but they found a completely trashed bones and had to do a joint replacement so I was in the hospital for four days then send to a rehab place for a month when I go home I could not believe the mess my son had made and me with only one good arm. The occupational therapist and the physical therapist both helped me to at least sweep and mop the kitchen then I was on my own. I used to do a big cleaning job when I knew I would be away for a few days but it always turned out that hubby and son could mop and sweep but doing dishes was not in their agenda grrrr. hope you have a pleasant hospital stay and come home to a nice clean house.

I'm the same way. I like to get the house nice and clean before I leave on any trip - just so when I come home I don't feel like I have to rush around and clean. Congratulations on the new baby! Best wishes to all of you!
