wow, what happened to 30 minutes or less??

We just ordered a pizza and the estimated delivery time is 100 minutes.......what? So we'll get it at approximately 5:11 pm. It's now 3:30. I mean really? So do any places deliver in 30 minutes or less anymore, like it used to be? When did this stop? I realize it's kinda prime-time, and on a Saturday, but WOW. That's quite a wait. Guess we should have gone to pick it up, but that's supposed to be the perk of delivery right? To NOT have to leave? Wow. Am I going crazy?

I don't think that anyplace guarntees a 30 inute delivery anymore. Too many drivers were in wrecks or getting tickets to be sure that the delivery was in 30 minutes. I managed a pizza shop before and it would be hard to deliver in 30 minutes on a busy night if the customer lived over a few blocks away. It takes around 10 minutes for it to be prepared and cooked and then you still have to package it, get any drinks that were ordered, get it to the driver as they come in and then deliver it. I wouldn't wait that long as I would just go to pick it up. However, I guess it just depends on how bad and fast you want it.

i bet there were lots of accidents AND tickets passed out. that's not fair to those poor delivery drivers!! and it is amazing to get it out in 30 mins or less unless you live next door!! lol.

nooo its still being delivered in our place 30 minutes or less and one delivers it on time or you get it free. other fastfoods have also joined the bandwagon here in manila. and most have also 24 hour delivery service, if not they will deliver until about 12midnight.

that's cool, 24/7 eh? we used to have a sub shop place deliver sandwiches til 3am when i was in college, THAT was cool! but we have chinese, some japanese, mostly pizza, and a few rib type places who do deliveries. not tons do here! and i don't blame them, i mean i think that'd be great for business, BUT it's hard to find drivers!

I think we need to be aware that the call centres most of the time are and would be able to tell you factors that might delay your deliveries as they are in actual fact located away from wherever you are most of the time. Also, as you are aware traffic conditions can be very unpredictable as well. Then there is the peak hour consideration all these are enough to give these deliveries a challenging task to meet and fufill the deadline. Bad Weather too is another consideration. I felt that we need to be understanding enough and spare a thought for the delivery boy too. Speeding dangerously and stressed up if he doesn't meet the delivery deadline and the company's expectations. Have a snack and give the pizza co. a call - I mean afterall we are all considerate people right? I do not think you will do any better if you had gone down and collected yourself. So stay comfort and chill, man.

i agree sky, i'm sorry if you thought i was being inconsiderate to the drivers point of views. i look at all the scenarios, weather and all that, in fact i try NOT to order if it's yucky outside, i think that's sucks for the drivers! and you know they're busy in crap weather, cuz no one else wants to go out! i didn't complain to them, i tipped well as i always do, it didn't worry me, BUT simply threw me off to see the wait time! i had never seen that, but didn't take it out on the driver, what if he was the ONLY driver? we don't know! we WOULD have done better if we had gone down there, that's usually what we do, cuz it's blocks away, then they make it and we take it home, DONE, BUT sometimes it's nice to have delivery ya know?!! there are ALWAYS accidents here and circumstances, but when they tell you a wait of that long right as you're ordering, to me that means they are understaffed, AND i could have just cancelled the order right there and then, and it wouldn't have mattered, i could have had that option. BUT i told them no prob, see ya LATER then! haha. they thaked me and who cares! we got it and it was hot still and it was all good!

Having spent a few days working in a pizza place in NYS, I have to say that yes, people expect you to deliver the pizza. BUT - how come if it takes the customer 30 minutes to drive from a-b, why do they think the pizza person can do it in 5 minutes. THe other thing, sometimes there may not be enough drivers, and if they get too many drivers there won't be enough to go around. Sounds like they are short on drivers, or staff. They will probably get to you sooner, but in the meantime - think how you would be if you were the one with delivering the pizza, how would you do it.

i completely understand what you have written, it depends on how many drivers, the staff, all that! it's like that in any business. i didn't complain, i still tipped well, BUT just had never had that kind of wait time before, it threw me off! i understand, i put myself in others shoes often, and would HATE to deliver pizzas, cuz i know customers are jerks to them! i couldn't do it, cuz most people DON'T understand. that's why i tip well, cuz i feel for them, to deliver ME food? HAHA! just cuz i'm the one sittin back being lazy.

Wow, I can understand not getting it in 30 minutes, but almost 2 hours? That's ridiculous! I don't think anyone REALLY delivers on the 30 minutes or less policy anymore. In fact, I saw a Dominoes or I think Pizza Hut add that said they deliver in 30 minutes or less, but at the bottom of the screen it said driver safety is more important than the thirty minute delivery time. I.E, "It'll get there when it gets there," lol. I'm wouldn't be crushed waiting over 30 minutes (maybe 45 or so) because I understand there can be traffic delays and unexpected things that come up, but a 2 hour delivery? I don't care what circumstances those are (unless I live 2 hours away, of course) it's baloney.

thanks for responding antithesis and mooch!! maybe that's it, "you'll get it when you get it!!" LOL!! we usually NEVER get it in 30 or less, but seeing this estimated wait time, i was like...wait, does ANYONE deliver in 30 or less anymore? that's why i wrote this, cuz it had been quite awhile since i have heard the 30 mins slogan! haha! times change!! oh well!!!!

Yeah for that amount of time you could have went out to a restaurant to eat. It might have taken less time too. I think the only pizza place that still does the 30 minutes or less promotion is Domino's. I pretty sure they still do it. But to wait 1hr and 40mins for a pizza is pretty ridiculous.

thank you for responding. it did seem a lil strange. but it's been like that the past few times we ordered from there, i think they must be understaffed or something. but that's the longest wait time i'd ever seen!

That is bad! I would not wait that long for food, no way. I would have told them to keep it. Our local place used to be great at delivering within 40 minutes, but the last two times we have ordered it has been over an hour before we have had it, and when it comes they keep missing things off the order. I would not mind but its only down the road! Think it is time to find a new place.

nah no need to find a new place! it's only blocks away, it's just pizza hut, so they match you to the nearest one near you. this just really threw me off this last time that's all. never seen a wait time like that!

WOW! yeah that is crazy most places where I live deliver 30 minutes to 45 minutes. An hour at the latest I would say. That is just crazy. It would have been easier to pick it up. Traffic is crazy where I live and they are still faster than that.
