for me, XP has far better than Vista. i recommend systems with atleast 1GB ram, then you will be able to manage vista, outside that use XP.

I bought a new laptop last spring running Vista and it is very slow. I can't get used to the unhandy methods of moving pictures. There are loads of things that need to be improved. I've heard that a new program is on the books for next year. So hang in there and hope Bill comes across!

i had vista on my pc for about 18 months and i can say without a doubt i hate it!!
i now have xp back on the pc and i am loving it
i have 2GB RAM, 2TB of HDD's, PCI graphics and soundcard and vista still ran slow and sluggish, not to mention the program compatability issues, the continuos confirmation of everything i want to do wether it be delete something or run a program i have run a million times before, then there was the whole "you dont have administrative access" grrrrr im the only user on the damn pc.
i use my pc continously to rip, burn, convert and shrink video and audio files, i do alot of graphic work and play mmo's and with vista i couldnt use most of the programs i was used to.
now im back on xp i can do everything i want to, in the programs i am familiar with, and get no problems with administrative rights, my games and programs also run alot faster and smoother.
vista seems to be ok for users that do not have a high expectation from an OS, and whilst microsofts claim that it was "idiot proof" only applies when you have never used a pc before, (i mean no offence to anyone, and apolagies if i do offend) but for those of us who know how to use a pc to its full potential, and push the limits of what it can do it wasnt an "idiot proof OS" it was just an "idiot OS"
lets hope that in 2009 the release of windows vienna isnt as bugged, slow, and sloppily put together as vista is, i have a laptop i will try vienna on and see how it goes, but due to vista my expectations are not all that
