Hey mister, welcome back. Your a sight for sore eyes. I haven't seen you in ages. Its nice to see that you are back, I hope you stay awhile and hang out. Things have changed some around here, for the better.
Now that all the sweet words are out of the way. For your question.....To each his own. I am a virgin, for tattoos and piercings, I don't even have my ears pierced. Never really wanted to neither. I have a nephew that has lots of piercings and a few tattoos. My sister has a few tattoos too. Some of my other family members have piercings and tattoos, its just not for me. My son was giving people tattoos for awhile, he did a good job too. Then his place got broke into and his stuff was stolen, he then went and sold the rest of his stuff.

I'm doing good, as you can see I am still mylotting, still enjoying it. I have met some terrific people here and have formed some real friendships.
People who do get tats don't stop at one or two, they keep getting them. Just like the piercings, they get more and more of them too.

Well, my goodness, welcome back, Diss! It's been a while, but glad to see you've returned to the fray.
I think tattooing and piercing are simply a matter of personal choice. I see nothing wrong with it, but I do see a lot of younger people taking it to extremes and I find that little worrisome. Body modification of any kind is something that should be given serious thought and not taken lightly.
I don't feel like many people bother to properly think about it before the get some of these things done. Laser removal treatments are not only more painful than getting the tattoos in the first place, but they're terribly expensive and drawn out. You know that many of these lovely young women who have altered their appearance so radically in their youth will likely come to regret a large part of what they've done when they get older. I guess I think that people should have to be a bit older before they should be allowed to get these things done.
Personally, I have two tattoos and would like to get a few more, but then I'm 40 and, I think, old enough to know what it is that I want and have thought it over for some time. I also have my nose pierced and have for about 15 years, and I like it, but I've had a couple of instances when I rethought it.
Once again, welcome back!

hi!! It's good to hear from you too!
I tattoo people every day all day and I couldn't agree with you any more! You are quite correct about people needing to put way more thought into their ideas, this way there will be no such worry as "regretting" any permanent art on their bodies. I cannot say that I regret any of the work I have collected in the past, but I can easily say that if I had the time to do it all over, I probably would change allot of my tattoos and used the space differently for sure.

it's amazing to see the rate of people getting tattooed and pierced these days. i, unfortunately was one of those that as soon as i turned 18 i went crazy with the whole tatooing and piercing thing. i regret it to this day to. there are so many tattoos that i would love to have removed, especially the one on my neck because it really does affect the type of jobs that i can get. as for the piercings, the only one that i kept in was my belly button, but all the rest i took out years ago, but the holes are still there. i dated a tattoo artist and was talked into getting many piercings that i absolutely regret now even though i no longer wear them. they are still there as a reminder of my rebellious stage i went through when i was younger. it's so not worth it in the end. God bless

....i don't think that it's you that has top change, it's more so the rest (sorry, I mean the "judgmental parts") of our society that should do the changing!
peace!

It's becoming an art, if it's not considered so already.
It came from the need of visibility, of identification, of being different. Tatoos are less and less hidden and more and more expressive, and elaborate.
Modifying image is the most effective way (so far) to get noticed, and tatooing and piercing are the best ways to change the looks.
I don't have any tatoos or piercings, but I totally agree with them...
For me it's art and it comes pretty expensive, given the materials needed (human skin).

Personally I don't think tattooing or piercing yourself is a good idea, but I have seen people who do look good with some of these things, I wouldn't do it to myself, but then again I guess if someone wants to add something like this to his or her body that's entirely up to them.

I think that with tattoos and piercings, it is another way of being able to express yourself and to make yorself individual.
I myself have 11 piercings, mostly on my ears and no tattoos as of yet.
I will hopefully be getting my first tattoo next month bt this is after thinking about a design for a good 6 months.
I've spent a lot longer thinking about the tattoo becase it will be so much harder to remove whereas my piercings will heal if i remove them.
I guess it's p to the individual whether they think that piercings in various places define who they are. I do however see people sometimes and think that they may not suit a piercing or tattoo, not something I would voice outloud however!

I have seen some lovely art, and some things that alarm me. I am not the type for a tattoo. I only like piercing in my ears and no more than two per side. I am not adventurous in this way. I worry more about the piercings and people's health than anything else. I am too well informed about health issues and consequences.

I only worry sometimes that the "training" and "understanding" of this type of job is not at all an "industry standard type of training. The real work will come from the city and government offices who are in charge of looking into this industry, to get together and develop some "expectations" on an industry wide kind of level. There are allot of tattoo artists and piercers who are as serious about what they do as a surgeon would be about their own form of work, I know because I am one of them. (Cert. in Bloodborne Pathogens and Infection Control by: OSHA in 2002) I believe that since it has gotten so huge, that it's time for the "officials" to develop some form of an industry wide training and licensing program.
thanks for touching uppon a very important issue!
peace!

There should be more people with that professional an outlook. The industry would not then have such a questionable reputation.

personally Im a very open minded person so it doesnt bother me. I have 5 tattoos and really only enjoy 2 so I would take the others back , well no in the end Iwouldnt have them. I got them when I was 18 and I was very irrational. It needs to be a long thought out process. Instead of gettting a tattoo just to get one...
