The (M) on a cats head

I see a lot of cats with a M marking on there head does anyone know why this is, I've heard that they are magpie cats if so what is a magpie cat

I believe its a trait that all tabby cats have. It's genetic to the coat pattern.

not that i approve in any way of mohammed there is a legend that ive heard that he placed his hand on a cats head and the initial M has been there ever since!
