Dogs mouths

Is a dogs mouth more clean than a persons? I'm tired of hearing that this is true with no backing information. Dogs constantly lick themselves as well as other gross things how can this be?

i know it isn't a religious issue but our religion even forbids us to keep them at home so i believe that there will be a good reason behind that

I don't know if it is cleaner but the saliva in a dog's mouth is strongly antiseptic
