I have been working in an office now for 5 years and i never hang out with the people in my office outside of work!! Most of the people are older and i just dont want to hang after work Recently (NOV.2007) I started working in a retail store and there I have became friends with a few people there and we hang out after work somethings and call each other to chat. So do you hang out with your co-workers outside of work??

I just started a new job and I don't know anyone that well, so I don't hang out with anyone there. I do keep in contact with someone I worked with at my last job, though.

Washing dishes at a restaurant. Nothing too prestigious. I've never worked at a restaurant before. Hopefully, I can avoid getting fired.

I wouldn't feel like hanging out with older people too. In the previous companies I worked in I had developed a bond with my teammates that we did hang out often. However in this new work I'm in, (I'm still here for 6 months by the way, going on 7 actually), I don't know if I would. I'm still trying to get to know most of them.

yes. our company has quite young employees, being a call center / BPO, mostly employees are no greater than 6 years in the company. we do hang out a bit, even have gone on overnight trips - swimming and stuffs. Mostly hang outs include dinners, and lunch outs... have coffee breaks. other company sponsored events sometimes become one of the common place for us to meet and have chitchats... during sports fest, and practice for the games. our place of work is stressful, but the people we work with makes things a whole lot easier...

I generally don't like to hang out with co workers but about 10 years ago I did make one very good friend from work. We join the company on the same day and really became such good friends and share so many common interests. She is my best friend now, so there is no telling what happens if we try to hang out and become friends.

Right now... i am the only one in the office... so i don't have anybody to hang out with... but when i was still working or teaching in a school... i always hang out with my co-teachers... we always eat out after work... and watch movies during the weekends... and when budget permits... we go out dancing at night... It was so fun during those day... almost all of us were single... so no responsibilities yet... but it is so different now... since i have a baby... good thing i am alone in the office so i don't really miss hanging out with co-workers...

I do hang out with them and we do send text messages with each other. It is some sort of building the team, building friendship. You know, after work is the time that you get a lighter atmosphere because all you need to do is to do things that you can usually do during office hours. If you have good relationships with the people you work with, everything will be lighter.

Though me co workers are old. I still hang out with them but not all the time. My co workers are like my parents age, so feels like I'm hanging out with my parents. This is what I really hate bout my job. Im really bored. Sometimes, I avoid hanging out with them because they're too traditional and they can easily make stories bout you.

I believe that that's one way of building strong communications and work relationship with each other, I always do my best to know most of them IN and OUTSIDE work. That way, you have a pleasant environment to work with. You also get to learn other people's background, of how they ended up in that company or what interests them..

I don't, but I'd kind of like to sometimes. I've worked at the same bank for almost four years now, and I like most of my coworkers. Some of them hang out together, usually going out the bar or whatever, and I never seem to get a chance to go. I'd really like to socialize with them, but even before I had my son, it just seemed like I never got a chance to do so. Now that I have my son, I pretty much have to go straight home to watch him so that my husband (who works nights) can get some sleep, so I never get a chance to go out. I'm sure my coworkers think I'm anti-social or something by now, since I never come along... and these days it seems like they don't bother inviting me anymore because I can never go!

My coworkers, with an exception of one, are 15-20 years older than me. It doesn't make for a very easy place for me to do things with coworkers. .

When I first started the job I am at now I did sometimes hang out with a couple of my co-workers, but since they mostly like hangin out at bars, I decided that was not really my cup of tea. So now we get on very well still, I just don't join in on the fun. They seem ok with that. I go home and have my own fun, with my friends and family. Or hang on the net, or what ever. Another thing I never do is, go there on my day off. When I am off work I stay away .I have several co-workers who are there every day, whether they work or not.

I have hung out many times with people I work with from my bar job. I have worked there almost seven years now. As far as my co-workers at the bank, none of us have ever hung out outside of the workplace. We all get along really well but we are all busy with our own lives and just never get together.

I have a good friend that I hang out with at work, we've been to each others houses and did stuff together occasionally. We get along very well.. she is the only one that I have a friendship with outside of work. I dont know if I could stand hanging out with too many people I work with.

I had an off-the-farm job in a Factory for 20 years. I got along with everyone just fine, I called everyone a friend but I never hung out with any of them. Most of them had a different work ethic than myself. They worked all week and partied all weekend, while I worked all week at the Factory and all weekend on the Farm.
