I'm not sure what you can do. I opened up a new email address and now use that for any new things. I still have the old one because I don't think I have told everyone about the new one yet. I also mark any junk emails that get sent to my inbox as spam and remove them. Most of the time after that, they don't come to my inbox. I also have to go into the spam and make sure that things I want to get didn't get delivered there. Good luck with that.

I agree. Make different email accounts for each type of activity you partake while on the internet. For example, one for personal, one for work, one for internet games, one for internet business, one you give your bank, phone/cable company, or credit card companies etc, and one for just random junk, like joining a new website that you are unsure of if you will always use the site. You can add a new type of email account as it becomes necessary.
It sounds like a lot of accounts, but hotmail allows you to link all of these accounts into one log-in session, and other email providers may do the same. It really cuts down on the time and hassle of finding emails you want - you can go directly to the email account you need from logging in under one account; and you'll always know where your junk is! (or isn't hehe) and you might find out where your junk is coming from, too - just by knowing who you gave the particular email address to.
Happy sorting!

One thing that I noticed when I downloaded Firefox the last time was they have an add-on that lets you enter "trash email addresses". I did include that download, but I still don't know how it works yet. I guess I will find out the first time I get to use it. I know the last time I needed to enter an email address, it asked if I wanted to use one of those but I chose not to at that time. Have a great day!!!
