Horror movies, especially those that are made from Taiwan, Korea and Japan, are really worth-watching. They give you a very different and unusual feeling when watching it. People are fascinated by it because it's very unique. Some of us think it's true but we just don't have enough evidence. With horror movies, our imagination are truly apparent.

I have a very hard time watching horror movies with my hands over my eyes when the scary parts come on the screen. You can get your heart pounding and yet in the end, you are one of the survivors and can walk out of the theater. Sometimes I just want to yell at the characters and say "Don't go in the basement"! But alas they do and then we all know what happens after that. Maybe we watch them to learn what we shouldn't do!

it is just fantasy makes us scared or exited but of course nobody would want to go through that in real life.

Dear Arjun,
Not only to horror movies may other interesting and supense movies. It is a creativity bunch that the people like to watch that would be in story mode as in real life viewing. If we read books we may not get it instantly but watching moving that too horror movies is beyond our imagination it is creativity of others that we are enjoying or seeing. Any how I feel it worthy to watch the talent of those who are behind that movies is watched and enjoyed by others. In Horror movies it really pokes into us really make up react our feelings.

People like things that're out of the norm, basically. They like to wonder why people do the things that they do, why they think the way they do, basically. They want to know how some of them tick. Horror movies are one of the ways they get insight into it & the feel of the "out of the norm" type of category. Of course yeah, they all aren't based on truth but if you dig deep enough a lot of movie ideas/book ideas/whatever ideas come from personal experiences or personal thoughts on how they think of a certain category like the Horror Genre & just the thrill & thought of that alone keeps them coming back. Of course, they don't think of it as maybe as detailed as I do, but when it comes down to it, that's kind of how it is at least on my personal opinion.

I guess people may sometimes think subconciously about the experiences in a horror movie happening to themselves. They may not want it to happen to them ofcourse but they like to imagine. Thanks for your response. It has given me a new insight in this discussion.

I am not quite sure either but I personally like to watch horror movies because it gives me a good little scare once and a while. I know people who like to watch them to scare the hell out of them . Its also nice to watch it in a croud... Everybody hanging onto everybody...

Movies are great because they are not reality.
People like to watch movies for the same reason that they like to read books, play games, and fantasize. These are all ways for the human brain to learn about new scenarios and how to deal with them.
Horror movies also illicit various responses such as disgust, horror, anger, etc. without being real, which removes the danger aspect but allows us to explore those emotions anyway. Much like a roller coaster ride, you (or some people) enjoy the feelings but are safe from the consequences.
