Adults! What makes you an adult?

Many people claim they are an "adult". The courts can make you an adult if the crime is bad enough at the age of 17 and sometimes even 16. Men have to file with the government at the age of 18, can enlist in the military, and sell acohol, but have to be at the age 21 to purchase a drink. So my question is...Are you an adult and what makes you one if you are? Is it your age? Your responsiblity load? Your career?...etc.

yes I am an adult. I am responsible for my own life. I live away from my parents. I am responsible for getting money, and for paying all expenses. I cannot cry for Mom to help bail me out if I get into trouble. I am able to make decitions for myself in all areas of life. And I DO act responsible.

I would too classify myself as adult. I pay my own bills and make my own life altering decisions...as well as what I'm going to eat for the day. Isn't it great being an adult and not having to ask to do something before you do it?! Although I must admit I do go to mom for advice...there are just some things I like to run by a "wiser" mind that had experienced more than myself..as I am still and always will be a child to my mother.

you are an adult when you are already responsible enough for your actions...i dont think their should be an age bracket when i comes to adulthood, because there are older men and yet they are not mature enough to face responsibilities and there are young people who acted like the breadwinner in the family and acting very responsible.that's the reason why i think its what they do that makes them an adult...
