cost of hotel rooms

I like to stay in locally owned guest houses, beach huts or unusual accommodation like tree houses. I look at my travel guide book and choose accommodation in the budget category unless there is something very special about it. I like to have a bed and the accommodation to be clean as well as safe. I have special memories of the sea splashing against the shore and feeling a soft ocean breeze when I was staying in an open sided fale in Samoa. I also remember sleeping in a tall thatched tree house in Belize and on a flat roof in Jordan. Such types of accommodation are more enjoyable to stay in that a five star hotel. The highest amount I would pay per night is US$100 and that would be in an expensive country like the Seychelles.
