Sing this to the tune of Julie Andrews' "My Favorite Things" from 'Sound of Music': "Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting. Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings. Bundles of magazines tied up in string. These are a few of my favorite things. Cadillacs and cataracts, and hearing aids and glasses, Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses, Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings, these are a few of my favorite things. When the pipes leak, when the bones creak, when the knees go bad, I simply remember my favorite things, and I don't feel so bad. Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions. No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions, Bathrobes and heating pad and hotmeals they bring, these are a few of my favorite things. Back pains, confused brains, no need for sinnin'. Thin bones and factures and hair that is thinnin'. And we won't mention our short shrunken frames, when we remember our favoritet things. When the joints ache, when the hips break, the eyes grow dim. Then I remember the great life I've had and then I don't feel so bad."

Julie Andrews - Beautiful and talented at any age!
Julie did sing it first! I bet someone else wrote if for her though. http://www.jibjab.com/view/131675 A real insight into the later years of life. No one says it better than Julie!!!!--DR Julie Andrews turns 69 . . . To commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was "My Favorite Things" from the legendary movie, "Sound Of Music." Here are the lyrics she used: Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting, Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings, Bundles of magazines tied up in string, These are a few of my favorite things. Cadillacs and cataracts, and hearing aids and glasses, Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses, Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings, These are a few of my favorite things. When the pipes leak, When the bones creak, When the knees go bad, I simply remember my favorite things, And then I don't feel so bad. Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions, No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions, Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring, These are a few of my favorite things. Back pains, confused brains, and no need for Sinnin, Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin', And we won't mention our short shrunken frames, When we remember our favorite things. When the joints ache, When the hips break, When the eyes grow dim, Then I remember the great life I've had, And then I don't feel so bad. (Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the Crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated Encores.) Share Ms. Andrews' clever wit and humor with others who would appreciate it.

Thank you very much for best response. I think I saw her singing it on the news now that I think about it. She is just a wonderful lady. So gracious.

Thank you for the info. I've been looking for confirmation that Julie Andrews did in fact sing it. I don't know...she may have written it herself. In some interviews I've seen her in, she is pretty funny. Again, thanks for filling us all in with the origination of the poem/song. You do deserve the 'best response' award!

OH brilliant! I diligently sang the whole song that you have written in the tune ofJulie Andrews' s song. Except in one or two stanzas where I couldn't exactly imitate it, I sang the whole song. Is it your own verse/ That is great

Thank you for replying. Yes, I had a problem with a couple phrases, too. No, it is not my own. A friend sent it to me - unattributed. Supposedly, Julie Andrews wrote it herself, or may have performed it herself, but I couldn't get this confirmed one way or the other. If any one knows, please let me know and I will give that person the credit for it. I just thought it was too much fun to not share.

That's very cute indeed I tried to sing the song and it was making me giggle all the way through. I wish I could hear Julie Andrews sing it herself. But I'm sad she can't sing high notes anymore.

I was giggling so hard I could hardly sing it, but made it clear through. I had never heard those lyrics before and must have missed Julie doing it. How cute is that, and how true! As I get older, most of that becomes, if not my favorite things, at least the familiar things! Thanks so much for my daily laugh.

Nice One! I've just read this post, and I'm watching a repeat of BBC's "Top Gear" Motoring programme where they try to prove Public or alternative transport can compete with a car-this race has one of the Presenters,Clarkson, Driving a Bugatti Veyron against the other presenters in a Cessna plane travelling between the south of France and London..Clarkson was just coming to the Swiss Border in this hypercar, and the song they Play? Julie Andrews singing "The hills are alive...with the sound of.VWOOOOOOOM!!!
