Ever have a boss that plays favorites?

I called in sick yesterday, today was my day off. I am genuinely sick. So my boss calls me last night and says 'how are you feeling? I need you to come in tomorrow, we'll just make today your day off' I proceeded to tell her I was still sick and she kept talking like I'd be in today!! But when her little pet (who hates her) called in for over a week, she was told 'just stay home and get better, you need your rest'. I know I seem to be whining and stuff... but does this seem fair and impartial? We were even more shorthanded when J called in than we are now.. and there is no way I'm going in this sick. So when I get back to work, I will be facing a written reprimand (there are no excused absences with this company) and possibly disciplinary probation. Because I was sick. And I am the only one that gets called when sick and treated like it's no big deal. Should I go over her head?

Why is that you get called everytime. However you might be facing written reprimand and a possible disciplinary action. Are there any of your medical bills which you can show to them or may be your diagnostic report. I would go over head and explain what i went through because she should know the turmoil i went through. I will say to her in a polite manner of course

the 'no excused absence' policy of this workplace disregards medical bills/reports, unless the illness is one where you qualify for a leave of absence. The stomach flu (which is what I think I have, either that or food poisoning) is equally debilitating, but still not excusable.. These people think that the job is more important than health/wellbeing/family. Another reason to never shop at Wal-mart!!

You will find very few bosses who do not have their favorites. In India we call these favorites chamchas, which in English means spoons. These chamchas spy on other employees and report to the boss. To keep boss happy and to justify their worth, these chamchas report wrong things also. May be your office also have some chamchas who are reporting wrong things about you.
