Do you prefer to respond to discussions or create your own?

Which type of discussion have you found to be 'easier'--responding to a really interesting discussion on a subject that intrigues you, or starting one on a burning subject that you want to see what others think?
I have found that others typically are not interested in the same things I am, or have already come up with basically the same thought as I have (although a few minutes faster to post it!). I started to get lazy, responding to others' discussions, but then realized that a lot of the discussions with many responses are rather simple questions...I thought myLot was finished with those! Of course, getting paid for one-sentence answers is a thing of the past, but just how many sentences can one write for a yes or no question?

I really had fun in the beginning (even with many of the nonsense-topics started back then!). With more and more people now, it's harder to find really great topics that capture everyone's attention. I'd love to have one of those 'hot topics'--now that would be cool! I like the digest--often I'll find at least one to respond to. Thanks for answering!

I think that I prefer answering a question that captures my attention. However, there are times that I HAVE to ask a question if it's something that's been on my mind. Especially when I'd like to hear someone else's opinion. But it just depends on my mood.

I know what you mean--perhaps I'm phrasing my questions wrong? The only discussion I've ever posted with more than 12 responses was one about adoption/abortion--and that one was temporarily suspended because of (I think) someone giving negative ratings! But in the end, it became a lively discussion (I was the only one who couldn't see it, but I got a bunch of those notification emails with some great views!). I just don't like posting really controversial--too many to offend these days!
Glad to see you're back--I've missed you! I'll try to post some more discussions! Take care girl!

I actually enjoy responding to other people's discussions a lot more than I do starting my own. Part of it may be because I like to respond to everyone who responds to my discussions and that takes extra time. But, I, also, rarely get a lot of responses to my topics, too. Mostly, it's because I'm asking something very specific which a lot of people might not be able to relate to.

I'm trying to remember to respond back to people too! I've found it was harder before, because so many people either didn't speak English or understand what the discussion was before. Either that, or it was someone just being annoying with little one-word answers.

Thank you cher. Which do you find more challenging--trying to come up with a 'popular' topic that will get a lot of responses, or to create the perfect response to get voted Best Response?
