today happens to be my birthday and i was really surprised that i had more friends that remembered my B-DAY then my own family ,i got calls from a lot of friends and also PM's from my lotters wishing me a happy B-DAY and only my 2 daughters and no one else in my family called or stopped by to wish me a happy B-DAY ,that really makes me think should i do the same to them or just forget about it ,i guess the old saying is right when they say you can pick your friends but not your relatives, anyway happy birthday to me LOL, let me know how you would feel and what you would do..

Happy birthday! Yes I think I would be tempted to do the same to them, it is very upsetting when someone does not remember it is your birthday, especially when you are then expected to remember theirs. My sister in law did it to me one year and I was really hurt, I did not even get a card and she had forgot, but she never even bought me a belated card. I did not do it back though as I guess it is not really me. A birthday might not be that important to everyone else whose birthday it is not, but to the birthday person they are important, even though none of us like the thought of getting older it is special to know that you have survived another year!

first of all i want to say happy birthday to you! even though you don't know me yet. :) i truly understand how you feel.. actually, im not really fond of celebrating birthday myself to the fact that my family always forgets! lol.. but i've learned to forgive them because most of the time they assume that you'd understand because of the many years you had together.. and they usually thinks you'll remind them as well.. :) if you're my family, most likely i will forget, coz i dont really make a big deal out of birthdays.. peace! im just sour graping.. :) but one thing ive learned if you want them to remember you on your special day, be the first to remember them on their special day as well! :) i'll be celebrating my birthday this 26th! hope they will also remember me.. :)

I would be upset also. I am kind of use to it myself in a way. A lot of my family forgets it's my birthday when a lot of my friends don't.

Hi my friend, I have to watch what to write here so it doesn't get deleted, I would like to wish you all the best on your special day. Even though I would be very tempted to do the same to them I probably would not because I want them to know I am a better person then they are. You enjoy your day and don't let their thoughtless acts ruin it for you. Hey, that's more cake for you to eat! LOL

First off, I would like to say Happy birthday to you mrpippo. *smiling* I can feel exactly where you are coming from, my B-day was the 12th, I had a couple people from myLot wish me Happy Birthday and hundreds from Yuwie. Only my husband gave me a birthday card. Now would I do the same to my family and friends? No I wouldn't. For the saying goes, "Two wrongs don't make a right". Besides that, I rather not acknowledge my birthday, for I know I am old. *LOL*

Happy Birthday!! I would feel ripped off if my family forgot my birthday, it is not hard for them to make an effort once a year. I think everyone should make an effort on your birthday, it is a chance to show how much you care about that person. I may have high expectations, but to me birthdays mean alot. I do not expect them to buy expensive gifts, but a card and a visit would be great! I am glad you have good quality friends that remember your birthday, they are keepers.

Yes you should pick up your Friends cause real freinds appear in such situations. On the other side, I dont think a birthday is something you should lose your freinds for. i mean real freinds appear in more serious situations. got it?

I get annoyed with family members forget especially my brothers. My sister always remembers because we are twins LOL but as for my brothers, they are useless. They even forget my sons's birthday. All I really want is a phone call or email wishing me happy birthday, that really isn't much to ask for I think.

A happy birthday to you! My dad celebrated his 54th birthday last monday, the 17th. We prepared a big dinner for him. It's sad that most of the people who remembered you are your friends and 2 daughters. But then again, there's still a reason to be happy!

I can hear my mother saying *better late than never* HA! I know how you feel. A couple of years ago I remarried. It was a small, quiet ceremoney and only my kids were there by way of my relatives being represented. I had sent invites to others but I knew they wouldn't make the long trip. What I couldn't understand was that I didn't get a phone call, card, email or any other acknowledgment from my parents or brothers and sisters of my remarriage. This year as my wedding anniversary approaced I sent an email to my family members and casually mentioned my plans for that day. I didn't hear from my siblings, but I did get this from my mother: "You're married? Well why didn't you say so? Your father and I have been praying for you for years that you would stop living in sin!" Like you said, you can't choose your relatives. *sigh*
