Here in the Philippines, back when I was in High School, we did not have a language elective. I think some private schools and/or science high schools have this now. It is primarily - English and Filipino.
I would have taken Latin too.
Good day!

Another Latin scholar! I took Latin in high school too! I loved every minute of it and went all the way up to Latin III. I was Latin Club President and we went to state and national convention. Once in college I took college level Latin I and II - I learned more in I than in all 3 from high school, lol. Thats college for you I guess. I knew better than to take Spanish. I just can't get the language down...I can count to ten, know a few colors and other small phrases. Period. I wish I could have learned French. If my school had offered it I would have taken Italian.

now see that? I was just the opposite situation as you. I took 4 years of Spanish but all my friends were taking latin and I wanted to take latin. My folks insisted on the spanish saying it was more practical. I really regret not having taken latin. However, my son took latin and aced it - he helps me with the latin often

I took french in high school but now it's kind of rusty. So hopefully I could take some time to myself over the summer and get reacquanited with the beautiful language. I just finished one year of italian in college so maybe that's why i forgot most of my french.

Unfortunately, we don't have any language subject in high school. Sounds funny, but we have filipino subject. Its just like learning more about our language. lol.
During college, we can take language courses but I didnt try to take any because I was afraid that I may fail on the class, and that would only be the reason why I can't graduate (since that was my last year)

I had taken French . it is a beautiful language. very musical and sweet to speak. it is simple and can be mastered easily but i cant speak it. it needs more training. i have tried to watch french movies and decipher the dialogues but it was too fast for me. so i had to rely on the subtitles for understanding.

I took French, Spanish and Latin. I can remember only a little Spanish now and my Latin has never been used so it is forgotten. I can still manage to speak a few phrases in French and can understand it a little.

How I wish there were language programs offered in my school when I was in my secondary level. The mode of teaching to most schools in the Philippines is English and that is the only language subject. I would love to learn new language. Right now, I am about to take Danish language here in Denmark. Its great to have such opportunity of learning new language.

I took Spanish. I took it starting in 8th grade. Then in High School I took it freshman, sophomore, and junior year. I stopped taking it my senior year because I wasn't really into it and I already had enough credits of an extra language to graduate. I don't remember too much now, but it's been somewhat helpful!
