My husband has prostate cancer and will start radiation therapy in 2 days. Would anyone out there like to share their experience with radiation with me? I am wondering how he is going to feel and how much care he will need from me (if any) Was it painful? Were there side effects? Were you cured? Please give us your perspective on what we are dealing with. thanks.

I recently had a bonemarrow transplant to get rid of my lymphoma and lukemia. I had to get total body radiation. it really wasn't bad. for me i had to go in basically a giant xray room and sit on a bar stool and not move for 5 min at a time. there is no pain involved in the procedure. ( lol unless your like me : If you dont eat or drink enough before you go in you do run the risk of passing out. wich i did. lets just say thank god for the nures that caughtme before my head hit the ground.)and realy the only side effect was that i was tired afterwards. And if i remember right I was a little sick to my stomach after like the third dose of radiation.
but everyone is diferent. the radiation may not really effect him at all as far as side effects go. Or it could go the other way around and he could have bad reactions. were he is really nauseated or tired or looses his hair...yeah i lost mine after 7 treatments.
it all depends on how much radiation he is gettig and how strong of a dose he is getting
