I am comtemplating getting what is called a LAP BAND Surgery done. It is where the doctor put a band around your stomach to make it the size of a golf ball.I just got back from talking to the doctor about it and it says like a good thing. Has anyone on here have the surgery, and if so what was your outcome? What was your before and after weight? How long did it take for you to lose the weight? Would you do it again if you could?

I like the lab band surgery because it does not work as fast as the gastric bypass. I know a few people who have had the bypass and most of them end up with hanging skin because they lost the weight too fast. Also there are some health concerns when loosing to fast. The lab band is designed to help you lose about 2 pound per week. But the first few weeks the weight will melt off because you will not be eating solid food. Oh and another great thing about the lap band is you dont have to worry about "dumping syndrome" where you break out in sweat and get dizzy if you accidently eat sugar. The lap band is great, and very safe.

Yes you have some with the Lap Band too but mot as many. And yes your to right about the weight comeing off to fast. I dont want to go from being fat and depressed,to being skinny and depressed because of all the skin. Thanks for your comment,

My husband had the gastric bypass surgery, not the lap band about 2 1/2 years ago. He was 350lbs. He tried all sorts of diets, that worked but he would always put the weight back on plus more. He was a size 56 waist before the surgery, he is now a 38 waist. he feels great. My girlfriend had it about 3 years ago and she has lost 150 lbs. Everyone is different. The doctor said my husband lost it too fast. It takes time, don't think you are going to lose it right away. You have to exercise and see a nutritionist every 3 months. If you don't do what you are suppose to its not going to work. A friend of mine's husband had the surgery and he only lost 80 lbs, he is still 250 lbs because he didn't do what he was suppose to. I think you made the right decision. Good luck

Your right. You still have to eat right and workout. The good thing about the Lao Band is that you don't lose it as fast as the Gastric Bypass,so you have time to tone up.You don't have as much hanging skin. The Lap Band isn't as hard on your body as the Bypass. You dont lose all the weight fast.It takes about2 years to lose about 60% to 70% of you extra body weight. Thats good.I have also tired a hundred diets. Yes i lose about 10 to 15lbs,only to gain 20 to 25lbs back.I have a Pituitary Tumor so that is making it harder to lose as well. Thanks for you comment.
