Six Degrees Could Change the World

Summer here in the Philippines is hell on earth. I know that there are far more worse places, but the heat is just inevitable! I can’t imagine myself living in Africa or some place hotter. The reason why I hate the heat during this season is because of the humidity. Imagine feeling so hot and your sweat is so sticky and uncomfortable. I feel like I am baking inside our house. Even if I drink lots of cold water I don’t feel replenished. I have to take a bath three times a day to beat the heat. It’s a great thing that our water supply is 24/7.
I think that one of the main reasons our weather is just getting crazier and crazier each year is due to global warming. Some people make think it’s not happening, but it is. I saw the National Geographic Special, Six Degrees Could Change the World, and I do believe that we are going to be wiped out if we don’t do anything about this.
You can watch the video here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4al4i_six-degrees-could-change-the-world_shortfilms
Now, I don’t want to be wiped out of the earth experiencing natural disasters after another. I am pretty sure it is not a comfortable feeling to be underwater for a very long time. There are so many things that we can do to prevent this. It can start at home. With a few simple things, we can change the world and preserve it for the future generations. Who are we to know if we’re going to be the last descendants?
Few tips to change the world:
- Use compact fluorescent light bulbs.
- Open the refrigerator door for a few seconds.
- Go organic.
- Recycle and reuse
- Turn off lights when no one is in the room.
- Don’t leave the water running when you’re brushing your teeth
What can you do to help?

I can imagine how you are feeling exactly over there in the Philippines. I was there about 2 weeks ago and the heat was really intense. Unless you work or live in an airconditioned room, there is nothing you can do about it.
Thankfully though, the temperature drops at night and if you leave the windows open plus the fan on you will get a very good sleep. Well, at least that was the case in Dasmarinas, Cavite.
Although I believe that this world is not getting any better and lots of natural disasters are occuring. And we all have to change our lifestyle if we want to avoid more catastrophe.
However, I don't think there will be another deluge after Noah's time. If you believe in God and He said in the Bible that He won't punish the earth again with water.
Let's see what the Bible say in Genesis 8:20-22
The LORD's Promise for the Earth
20 Noah built an altar where he could offer sacrifices to the LORD. Then he offered on the altar one of each kind of animal and bird that could be used for a sacrifice.
21 The smell of the burning offering pleased God, and he said: Never again will I punish the earth for the sinful things its people do. All of them have evil thoughts from the time they are young, but I will never destroy everything that breathes, as I did this time.
22As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat; winter and summer, day and night.

That is true. Most of the time, if I have the chance, I frequent the malls because of the free air conditioning. I sure hope the world won't be underwater. That is just too scary.

Thanks for your response. It is quite scary, to think that this can happen any time soon.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I am doing a few things to help the world even in bits.
I dont waste water - i reuse instead of flushing, i am using used water from laundry to clean the bathroom. I recycle papers and bags. though these are little things, i know i am able to help at least a bit.

i know.. i wasn't even able to sleep today because of the heat... sometimes, even the electric fan don't do it anymore.. and using aircon everyday will worsen the earth's condition.. i don't know what else to do.. if this will go on and on.. we're the ones who will get screwed... i don't even go out without sunblock anymore.. if you have time, pls read this:

I'm from the Philippines too, but I'm from Negros Oriental. Our problem here is that most of the people are not educated enough on how to help the environment. National bookstore has this campaign where they give out their bags so not to use plastic, although you have to buy P1,000 worth hahaha. Instead of using plastic mugs or plastic cups for drinks you buy, bring your own mug so that plastic can be saved. There are several lectures being given out and I think we should educate the poor people about it, because they still keep on burning their trash and leaves. I live at the beach so if the sea level rises we are directly affected...huhu I hope it still takes centuries for the ocean to rise...
