Diamonds or pearls?

I think the term ‘diamonds are a girl’s best friend’ refers to times when girls were not so economically independent or had jobs of their own. Diamonds were then more like properties to bail them out in times of needs. Other than that, women in high societies too think more of diamonds as properties that jewelries that can be pawned in times of need. In this regards, of course diamonds are far more desirable than best friends coz in certain situations, even our best friends can help us out inspite of their best intentions. When you need hard cash and need it fast and need it in plenty, diamonds are no doubt your best bet.

This is a mystery to me..or maybe im just daft!!! Why pay an absolute fortune for diamonds etc when cubic zirconia are really lovely too!!! I wouldnt even know the difference!! Maybe im an old skinflint lolol

Well, I think the phrase "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" comes from a song by Carol Channing. And if i got to choose between diamonds and pearls I would definitly choose diamonds. Not only do I think they are prettier but they are far more durable.

I love diamonds they sparkle in the sunlight but I would not give up a best friend for them as they are only material things and won't be there for you when you need them!

Yeah i'd give up diamonds for my bestfriend too, lol i've never thought about it like that. I would always choose diamonds over pearls though, they win there. I also love Opals! and i like topaz, turquiose, sapphires and white gold. lol so if anyone wants to send me any just pm for my address lol.
