My son's school let out yesterday at 11am because of the rain. We were having flood watches. We got around 5-6 inches of rain yesterday. School was canceled for today as well because it is STILL raining. Have you ever had school close because of rain? Have you had a lot of rain this week?

Yes back in 1993 the area I live was under flood watches for 2 weeks. They canceled school and alot of other activities as well. At least they are acting out of safety for the kids. We had rain for the last 2 days. It is just really cold today. And windy.

Ouch...sorry to hear about your son's school being cancelled because of rain..
Well, I never had such incident that the school have to close because of rain...But like you, I have had a lot of rain the past week and this week as well at where I'm from, although its not like 5 - 6-inches of rain like you...
The weather has gone crazy these past weeks...partly because of global warming...I do hope it would adjust better soon...
And I also hope it will be better weather for you as well, so that your son can go back to school....But I'm sure you like having him at home....hope he isn't too playful though :D

Many areas are flooding in the midwest. Some places, in the country, the roads are gravel/dirt. Buses might get stuck. This is not a circumstance you really want to deal with, so I would cancel school for flooding, too.

We got 12 inches. School was not cancelled though. They are all on spring break this week. It would have been if they were in class this week. There were places where we could not drive due to the water. It was really bad. I thought we were going to float away.
