I can't think of a way for me to lose faith. A lot of people would say I'm delusional because I believe my Gods actually talk with me and interact with me, but because I do have that experience, there wouldn't be any way for me to stop believing.
If I were going to lose faith over negative events in my life, that would probably have happened when I was being abused every day, or when I was homeless, or when I was pregnant and having seizures every day. If I made it through all that with my faith intact, I can't think of what would make me lose it.

No it doesn't take a theist to be an atheist.I assume there are ex-theists that are now atheists but you don't have to be a ex-theist to be a atheist. There are many paths to any way of life. Not all atheists started out following a religion.

Plainly, you can be an atheist without rejecting G-d.You don't have to be a ex- religious person to be an atheist.

i was raised lutheran for the first 8 years of my life, then one day i prayed and it wasnt answered. that was when i started questioning it. it wasnt the unanswered prayer, it was just the blatant impossibility of divinity that made me atheist. so like the first person, logic triumphed at young age.
