First of all, I would thank God that he doesn't. Then, I would see a lawyer and see what steps need to be taken. This sort of misdiagnoses can hurt your ability to be insured. My mom has 'borderline' COPD and found it very tough to get insurance.

I am usually a relaxed sort of person, but this could really get my 'dander' up.

Hi Hon Many times people are misdiagnosed a number of times before they discover the correct answer. Maybe that is why they call it medical practice. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

He is very fortunate even though I would take it further as you say the stress he has been put through I have the Illness and COPD and I know when I first got told I was a mess and I was still hoping they had it wrong but they didn't I think he needs to take it further and complain to the Medical Board

I would be grateful, and I would make sure I made healthy lifestyle choices, to reduce the likelihood of ever having the disease. I would eat healthier, drop bad lifestyle choices, and always get a second opinion in the future.

I would be devastated but all at the same time, more motivated to do more with my life before it ends. If I found out later, I did not have it, then I would jump for joy even though I would really seek a new doctor also. I think I may have went for a second opinion the first time also.

After I had lab work done the doctor I was seeing at the time told me I have leukemia because my white blood cell count was high. Well it wasn't high enough for him to say that, but I was shocked at his blatant statement. He also told me I had emphysema before I had x-rays. I didn't have it. I don't see that doctor anymore. He had his own agenda and didn't give a rat's patooty about my real issues.
