Why do you post on myLot?

I am new here on myLot and have found the experience here quite fascinating. At first I was intrigued by the chance to earn a little money from posting to discussions and starting new ones but now I log in more to read and participate in discussions rather than to make money. Of course, making a little money is nice but having quality discussions with interesting people is rewarding in itself.
I was thinking that by incentivizing people to post, there would be more responses like "Thanks" or "That's great!" or "Cool" but hopefully people who post really short responses are not rewarded the same way as those who spend time writing quality responses. In any case, I haven't seen many short responses like this. I find that people really spend time to think about and write their responses. This has caused me to spend more time here than some of the other social networking sites I visit.
So why do you post here at myLot?

Well for me it was to just make some extra cash. I have slowly become addicted to the mylot community though, so I spend a lot of my time here. I've also made myself a goal of reaching a 100 posts a day, but haven't yet succeeded in that goal. I'm also trying to reach a dollar a day, but have only reached that goal 3 times, and one was reduced to just under a dollar from a discussion that I responded to being closed. I'd say that I'm here for the community itself now.

My initial reason for joining was also because of the money, but now I am doing what I love doing, giving advices and opinions. I am going through my masters n counselling and like helping people with their problems. So if you have any problem, maybe I can help ^^

That's great that you are getting your masters. And it's also very cool that by participating here you are doing what you love (and making a little money on the side). I will definitely ask for your advice if I need it. One of the first things I might ask is what to do if I get addicted to myLot (LOL).

well thats hard to answer haha... in most cases an addiction shoulb be treated like a disease which you dont have any control of. If your fingers itch so badly just to write on mylot, then you are truly addicted hehe. But dont worry, its not harmful and brings a little money too, so that's that. LOL

I myLot because I have a lot to say...all the time. I am never without words. I am rarely without an opinion about something. I just like to talk a lot and, this is a great way to do exactly that.
I have also enjoyed meeting people here. And, the people of myLot were very instrumental in keeping me sane this past weekend when a train of tornadoes and horrible storms came through my state for several hours. They kept me calm and made me feel better and, all of their positive thoughts, I truly believe, kept me safe.

This is definitely a great place for people who like to share their thought are have their own opinion on various topics. In person, I think I'm usually a little more reserved and shy but for some reason I'm more willing to share my thoughts here on myLot. I'm also glad to hear that you are safe. Take care!

I think a lot of people here have similar stories. They wanted to make a little extra money by posting to discussions but eventually found a very interesting and vibrant community of people. I appreciate your response as well as the other responses here and am really just enjoying my time reading and learning from others.

in my opinion, that's just diversity which leads to attraction between communication through post here.
difference in nationality,skin colour,custom,etc.

Ren,
I too am fairly new here.I come on here when i get the chance to.When i do get on,i find myself starting to read.i keep on reading and reading through discussions until the time i've spent here,i made nothing, but gained a lot.I guess i need to try posting something when i come on,at least 1 or 2 lol.I'm really here more for learning and trying to open up anyway.I am a little withdrawn, shy type,so it helps me.I just got my first referral today!and i feel like it's Christmas! So even if i'm not here,i am still trying on the outside....a good thing to do is to put your referral link in your signature of your e-mails...it worked for me!Good Luck Ren MyLot'ing!...Have a Happy Spring

I know what you mean; I have learned a lot just by reading the posts on various topics. Thanks for your suggestion about adding the signature to my e-mails. Congratulations on getting your first referral. I can't wait until I get my first referral, too!

I personally post on mylot as I can join in on discussions that im intrested in but my partner may not be. So it gives me someone to talk about things to without holding any charachter judgement because I don't actually know anyone on here.
Its alway a good way of slowly storing up the pennies if you post quite a few.
I'm sure your right though when it comes to paying the shorter posts less, I think they do already do that, to earn the maximum you need to put the effort in really. Also I believe you get maximum rewards for adding photos to discussions so thats always a must if your creating a new discussion to keep in mind.
Hope your enjoying mylot x

That is a good point about joining is discussions that your partner may not be interested in. I have a number of interests which I share with my wife but a number of other interests which she doesn't really care to discuss. Here I can find many people with varied interests and I can talk to others about all kinds of topics. I especially enjoy talking about the topics my wife isn't interested in because I don't know that many people (in my everyday life) that I can talk to about certain topics.

Responses like "Thanks" or "That's great!" or "Cool" are the ones that are really annoying. they should not be rewarded and i feel like they should be automatically deleted.
when you are participating in a discussion one should be mindful and contribute something meaningful.

I started with the hope s of earning some more money, and I do think MyLot pays fairly and has a decent pay rate as well.
The more I logged on and began posting, the more I became addicted, as I see many others have written. It's true for me too!
There are so many interesting subjects to discuss!
There are so many questions I still have, and it's a great way to earn money while getting your questions answered. Questions about MyLot itself, politics, morality, food, music, and the list goes on.
It's also a great place to come for advice on issues you are having in your life or to see how many people have the same views as yourself.
I also like to find out if people feel the same about certain things, for instance I've seen posts asking "Do you truly love your job?" and it's nice to read how people feel about things such as that and other topics.

What enticed me to join myLot was the idea of having a monetary incentive per post Im going to make. On my first day, I was so excited in responding to discussions that I find interesting so as to know how much I earned for that day. To my dismay, my earning was still zero. I did make a post asking for help from myLot community. Its quite obvious that I did not read much of the posts here before I made some response so as to know my way and not to ask some stupid question. As my earnings increaséd, I felt so happy and inspired to posts and interact more. As i stayed here, I gained some friends and informations. Its quite fascinating to talk with people all over the globe who have the same interests as mine. My goal before was to gain a star, which I achieved on my 9th day. Right now, I spend more time to reach my next goal which is to reach 200 and be able to use the myLot code..

actually i was encouraged by my friend to join mylot, because she told me i will earn by posting...at first my objective is to earn from mylot, but as i visit mylot everyday, i found out that mylot has many features you could enjoy aside from posting. Thru mylot i get updates on the latest american idol happenings, which i really enjoy...actually i thank my lot for the latest updates on american idol :P

When I first joined mylot, I was also mor einterested in the fact that you can make money posting here. It didn't take long for that to change. Within a couple of days I found that I was mor einto the posting rather than the money. I've only done about 80 posts so far but then it's not about the money anymore.

honestly i was here for the money, but as time goes on.. i have rarely checked on my daily earnings but just comes here to post. i love posting in forums and was even for a time a top poster in one female forum. i liked it here as i have freedom in posting topics and replying to them. at the same time, i am earning too.

I post on mylot before i love to take part in the discussions. here there are many new things to learn from peopel. Also i do not like who answers in one words. I have seen people also start one liners to get numerous responses.I think Mylot pays more from quality responses.

The main reason I joined myLot was because of the atmosphere. I found answers to several questions without having to ask them by searching through several discussions. I also like making new friends on here and reading what they have to say on a daily basis. Another thing I like to respond where I feel that I have some knowledge of most things and some things I don't but want to learn more about them.
I am more addicted here than I am to my myspace area and I've been on that for over a year. Just easier to communicate here I suppose since it's a board whereas you have to either message someone or post a comment on their page to say anything.
