We never lock our room. When we go out, we make sure that we lock the main frontdoor and that's all. We are a whole family, it's no need to lock the rooms in my opinion.

Well same like you, I never lock my room door. There is no such need because I am living alone. Besides, by locking the main entrance should be ok. The main reason is I never stock valuables inside my house. Most of the furniture are of lesser value and the thief will find nothing worth their effort LoL.

You are wise in this aspect. If there was a thief, I am afraid he would be very disappointed to leave

The only time I have locked our bedroom door was when we had friends staying with us for a week. I just didn't want anyone noseing about so that's why I did that. Normally I don't lock our bedroom doors though when we go out, just the main front door and the verandah door.

No not really. It's just a one leveled 2 bedroom apartment that really isn't big at all :)

Hi youless, besides locking the front door, my husband will, and he also wants me to lock our bedroom door. Our house is rather long and the door of our bedroom is very close to the front door. He is afraid that his sister who is always in the kitchen might not aware if somebody sneaks in our house and the bedroom. She has been given a key of our bedroom in case she wants to tidy our room.

While locking front door is a must, we lock most of the doors when we go out for a longer duration. We can not WELCOME thieves whole heartedly, who are smarter than us.. HO(W)(TO)USE

I think if the thief can open the front door, then he has no problem to enter any rooms inside. This is why I don't think locking rooms are necessary. It mades us very inconvenient if I lock them up.

More the locked doors, it puts the thief into more strains/timetaking, to make noise.. chances are better for him/her getting noticed. This may lead to get caught. By not doing so, one makes his/her job easier... Better protected is always better saved ( ha a new slogan ).

You are right I have never lock other doors then the frontdoor, i don't think there is any need in it. I only remebr when i was living at home and we went somewhere for longer trip, my mum would lock kitchen and living room door. But she left the key inside the door so i have no idea what was that good for.

That's interesting. My mom won't have keys left at home when she is with me to go out. I ask her why and she tells me that she doesn't want the thief to have the keys

we never lock our room. We just lock our main door when we goes out or when we are going to bed. We don't lock our room at night because we are afraid that our kids may need us in the night.

Yes, I lock our bedroom door every night before I go to bed. We live in a bedroom off the garage. Whenever the garage door is opened, or the door going from the garage into the main house is opened, the pressure pushes open my bedroom door if it is not locked. This we can't have, because my dog does not get along with my mother's dog. We don't want any dog fights in the house, so we keep them seperated, and the easiest way to do that, is to lock my door everytime I go in or out. It's basically just a safety issue for the dogs, other than that, I probably wouldn't even lock it, because no one tries to come in without knocking anyway.
