My friend and his entire family never eats non veg, but my friend eats chicken and he is very much crazy about it. He always comes to my house and eats chicken of course his parents never know about it. He proudly tells everyone that he is Vege.
What is your opinion any incidents like this.

I think the reason why he keep saying that he is a vegetarian is because he avoiding his family to know that he is eating a non vege food. I have an Indian friend who is from India and doing his Phd at my university. He said that whenever he and the family at their home, they never eat a non vege food. But when they are outside of the home, then they eat anything including pork. He is hindu, and he said that the vegetarian was his granny and the granny is very strict that there should no non vege food to be allowed in house. Are you sure that he is very proud to tell others that he is vegetarian?! or may be that is only one of his strategy of avoiding the family to get to know he eat a non vege.

You are onto the point. He is just doing that so that his family never knows about it. Yeah rather than his granny his parents are much more strict.

That's funny. Is he supposed to be vegetarian for religious or cultural reasons? If not, then I don't know why he is hiding it. It seems funny to be running off secretly getting into his secret stash of chicken as opposed to running off and smoking behind his parents' back! I don't think he should be telling everyone that he is vehetarian. That's hypocritical. He probably wants to be but doesn't have the willpower to stop his chook addiction.

As you said rightly he is bound to his religious and cultural affiliations. It is really funny. He just cant stop eating chicken he goes crazy when the dish is there before him.
