Should we admire them?

I though about all those celebrities like Madonna who give a million to a charity. I have been watching this show about 30 richest women in the world and each of them get some mony to the charity. But would you give money to the charity if you earn so much like them and million dollars is just some money for you? So I am thinking why we admire someone liek them who has so much monye, they don't know what to do with them anymore then regular person whose average salary is $30 000 a year, but still donate as much he can.

I admire celebrities who give lots of money to charity who started out in less than desirable circumstance, and at that time, gave a certain percentage to charity and now that they are rich, donate the same percentage. I also admire those who were unable because of poverty to give as much as they could or any at all, and now that they are famous or even before that when they made enough money, would start donating money to charity and keeping it up.
So if Madonna ALWAYS donated money to charity, and kept up the same percentage, we should admire her the same way as an average person, but if now she donates one percent where before she donates ten percent, we should not.

I certainly admire those with vast sums of money donating to charity.
It probably helps them financially too ...as im sure maybe it can be offset against taxes.
I think probably the majority of us try to do our bit in one way or another.
Evven those of us on tiny incomes can help by putting money intocollection tins etc.

My view is that no amount of guilt money can undo the harm done by someone who abuses their wealth, power, or fame by setting a bad example for the children of the world. Giving of one's material possessions is one thing, but giving of one's self is another. I would like to the societies evolve to the point where charity would be a thing of the past and unnecessary. Some kinds of giving are like trying to put a band-aid over the hole in a dam. Throwing a little money into the wind is not going to stem the flow of poverty.

Is good you admire them. They didn't woke up on day and became celebrities, they actually work hard with luck on there side.Who knows you may, or, will become a celebrity one day, and you will expect somebody to admire you. How ever, in our own little ways we are celebrities in our homes, our local area and places of work. The level of honour and prestige you bestour on yoursel will detamin the kind of admire you get from people you know and the people you don't know. Just know it that what ever you do people are watching.

i probably would, but then i have a dream of helping people by means of education... so maybe ill put that amount into my dream school for street children. But who i admire most are those people who give, work for others without having to tell the public of what they do..

I admire people who helps others and those who are needy.
But of course people who are more admirable are those that have little and still give. afterall, it doesnt matter how big you give, but how big your heart is.
Sometimes you can't be sure if these celebrities, most especially the politicians have true intentions when they give.

First of all we don't know these celebrities personally an don't know their motives at all. Second of all everyone is different and thinks differently. So if these celebrities are giving because they know they should give and want to help out the less fortunate then they should be admired. Although there are celebrities taht do it for publicity which is awful. If I was rich I would give money to charity because I like to help people and that's just the way I am. I don't have much money especially since I'm a student but I try to help out whenever i can by going to soup kitchen's and helping out the needy. Since they have money they can afford to help out people by giving away money the rest of us can help by volunteering for stuff.

Well, I think its admirable. As you can see there are lots of people out there who are rich and don't even bother to help those in need. If I have so much money, I would definitely do some charitable work or perhaps create some foundation to support those in need.

I like it when I hear of those with money donating sums to charity, without them al lot of charities would struggle, because a lot of us just cannot afford to give to charity regularly. I give when I can but it is not always as much as I could. I do admire some of them who are giving to charity because they care, the ones that just do it for publicity I do not have much interest for.

I were a celebrity i would definitely donate as much i can .When you are overwhelmed with money you relationships we people gets you boring and the only thing that gets you going is charity the ability to give to those who desperately need them and in a way changing their lives forever .

I agree with you on this. It is good to acknowledge any gift that is given. But if someone is rich, he/she should obviously give a lot more than you would expect the average joe on the street to give. I think I would be far more impressed with a person with low income giving $1000 than a millionaire giving $10,000,000. Thanks for bringing this up.

I would do and stand as Mr. Warren buffet did, nothing more than that.
